My Message to Columbia Professor Nicholas De Genova regardin his death wish for our forces
FreeRepublic | March 29, 2003 | Jeff Head

Posted on 03/29/2003 10:40:57 AM PST by Jeff Head

The following is my email to Professor Nicholas De Genova of Columbia University who was quoted in the New York Post as wishing a "million Mogadishus" on American servicement in Iraq at an anti-war rally.

This was reported on FreeRepublic on this thread, Columbia Prof wishes death to GIs.

Here's my email to him:

Nicholas De Genova,

Your call for the US Military to suffer a "million Mogadishus" has crossed a serious line on civility and duty and commitment to our nation.

You are wishing for the death of 18,000,000 of your fellow countrymen and women, individuals who are fighting for your ability to make your crass statements about their well being.

Are you familiar with the term "useful idiot"? If you are not, I suggest that your read your history regarding the Bolshevik revolution in Russia. Note the ultimate outcome to the "useful idiots" employed by the Bolsheviks. If you get your way, and these tyrants are victorious, those very people you support with your comments would have no compunction about doing the same to you and your ilk, while the very people you deride are dedicated to your life and liberty. Perhaps you should think about that.

In addition, you are self defeating in your own comments. You clearly have no concept of history, even recent history. Something between 2,000 and 10,000 Somalis were killed in that Mogadishu battle. Your wish for 18,000,000 American dead would result in between 2,000,000,000 and 10,000,000,000 Iraqi dead ... in other words, a complete depopulation of that country. With such a statement, and such a wish, you reveal your true genocidical nature.

Individuals like you are what is wrong with the world today. You are so transparent and so ignorant of history that it would be laughable, if your policies were not so dangerous. All I can say to you are the words that Samuel Adams said to similar defeatists and traitorous thinkers to the original American cause:
"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom...go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels nor arms. May your chains set lightly upon you and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen."- Samuel Adams
Without and ounce of respect,

Jeff Head

I was filled with anger, too. Peace protests are one thing. Arson/anarchy that have come with the protests are detestable. But the professor calling for death to our brave YOUNG men and women in harm's way is damnable. My future son-in-law went into the navy after graduation from high school about a year ago. He is still in training in Florida, but has had "all of his shots" and he knows where he is headed. He went into the military because he wanted an education, he needed some time to grow up and mature, and he wanted to do his duty for all of us. I hate knowing that a college professor wishes Robby dead. Some of these soldiers will return from the Gulf, they will go to college... this professor will be facing many of them at that time. I don't know if the college will be able to keep the professor safe, he may have to go to a new school and teach under a new name and ID.

Great letter Jeff. Its too bad this idiot can't read. Maybe if you sent him a picture book... Or some pictures of the results of the tyranny he is supporting... Well he's probably blind too. Never mind.

Ditto, Jeff. I just wish you would have given us all a chance to sign your letter- I don't know how it can be said better and with nary a word of profanity either.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I see this as a challange to surpass the seemingly insurpassable-I accept the challange my Friend, stay tuned.

Freegards,

F.J.

Under the circumstances, much too civil for me. I wrote:

Dear Mr. Bollinger (Pres of Col.),

I am the proud father of a fine student and person who has considered attending your institution. We visited Columbia recently and kept it on the short list. Upon becoming aware that there would be on your staff a piece of shit such as N. De Genova, we have changed our thinking. From where I sit, your loss. Too bad,

I e-mailed some national radio guys about it early on Friday in case they hadn't already heard about it and one local guy as well. I think everyone should do the same to their local conservative radio talk show hosts.

I only hope the current Columbia President is 1/10th of the man Ike was.

Well not exactly, although Bollinger isn't the most 'Red' among Ivy League Presidents (www.columbia.edu/cu/president/biography).

If this a$$hole (De Genova) was in the majority in this country, I would fear for the Republic.

I hope someone is keeping a list of names and addresses. And I wish that Nicholas De Genova is added to the list.

Parents are paying good money to send their offspring to universities with professors like this? What are the students of American parents learning. Can they be trusted to serve America in the future, or will they go the way of multiculturism where anything is acceptable? Multiculturism has turned out to be a culture of no laws. Belgium is a good example to watch in the coming months and years.

You are exactly right. This should become a HUGE email campaign to this Prof and to the President of Columbia.

Email all of your friends and ask them to email thses people and then forward it on to their friends ... and so on, and so forth!

Get the email chains going!

All the way to Baghdad. Let's Roll!

I think writing to him is good, to let him know how we feel, but from his comments it's obvious that he doesn't care. I would suggest to also write to the President of the University, after all the Professor made his comments in his official capacity as a professor, ON campus, not at some private party, so his comments reflect directly upon Columbia University.
