Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
To all who helped this get started, thank you!
Special thanks to An.American.Expatriate for staring the daily threads, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

hmmm... maybe the 3ID is not the attacking force... They are a pinning forcce, they will sit in place while something else drives the republican gaurd to them......

Also, remember that WE have the free supply lines and the enemy has no way to re-arm and get new gas.
New ckt cards that burn out and new tank treads, and new truck tires, and batteries for their IR devices and night cvision goggles and batteries for the short-range missiles. They don't have MRE's (fortunately?) or resupply convoys for the field units, and so THEIR guys are sitting and freezing in the dark.

FNC -- says more air to soften up while food and diesel and troops catch up!

HERE IS THE REAL REASON FOR THE 4-6 DAY DELAY. Per Donald Rumsfeld, it will take that long to get all those whiney reporters to the front line. No kevlar for the big babies. Exception is bag for Helen's head.

SHEP SAYING HE'S BEING TOLD reason is supplies shortage, i.e., food, fuel, etc. Men are down to 2 rations a day.

Now that's a good possibility, Classic hammer and anvil. Where is that hammer -- coming through Jordan? Maybe?

It should have been announced more formally.

Things are back to normal at the ministry of dis-information, Akmed is back to sweeping the roof on the MSNBC Bag-Cam.

It is to lull the republican guard to sleep while the 11,000 strong members of the II marine expeditionairy force sneak attack them from the west, I mean east... I mean north... oh heck.. where are those marines anyways?
To: nicmarlo
CNN just reported it, but something doesn't seem right. Too much conflicting information about food, water and fuel. Wesley Clark says this is unusual operation, no historical reference, but it makes sense.

Hi gang.
Strategically, a pause makes good sense. They've been sqwaking about the supply lines, and this'll give them a chance to catch up, refuel, restock, re-arm and get ready for The Push to Baghdad.
We don't really have to worry about air attack, since we basically own the skies.
We don't have to worry about ground attack, since we own the skies (aerial bombardment does nasty things to attacking troop convoys).
Even though this is a surprise, I'm not shocked, nor am I worried. If it's what they say it is, all the better. If it's a piece of dis-info...it may be interesting to see what's REALLY up thier sleeves.

I agree with you. That would also explain the 173rd securing the airfield and the non-stop supply flights.

I agree. And why would you publicly tell the enemy you have no food and no fuel...yep, we're just gonna sit here in the desert and wait for food and FUEL and AMMO to catch up to us...from the rear.
To: Dolphy
Oh, gads, Rick Levinthal doesn't need any sleep does he? He's starting to sound punch drunk. He thought Shep was talking about eating mre's again. A few hours sleep and he'll be back in tip top shape.
