***Operation Iraqi Freedom - Situation Room - Day 10 - LIVE THREAD***
Everywhere! | 29 Mar 2003 | An.American.Expatriate

Good Morning.

This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.

It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.

Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:

To all who helped this get started, thank you!

Special thanks to An.American.Expatriate for staring the daily threads, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

Why are pickup trucks with a gun mounted on the back called 'technicals'. Thank You.

Because that was what the Somali's called them. Real high tech for Africa...

The two boys don't or aren't supposed to watch the war, too young. But the five year old watched a while with me one nite when Bagdad was lighted up with bombs. He enjoyed it and reading the paper this am I showed him the pics of tanks and guns and he really liked that. He is my little soldier to be I am sure,,he loves guns etc. The baby girl was not a bit interested,,too young.

Alot (if not all) of those events were done by Saddams body-doubles. Which then provokes the question: where are his body doubles now?

675 Tomahawks launched so far.

Overtime is good for them Boeing boys. It keeps the squeeze happy with money to shop.

Flechettes? Wow, those things are really nasty. If you shoot a watermelon with one, it'll retain its shape, but if you nudge it, it'll fall into a million pieces, and that's very little hyperbole.

Fox - Important and unreported airfields taken. We have now 6. An air force embedded reporter in S. Iraq. Alot of activity. Two bases in S. Iraq, two in Western Iraq.

Breaking - ten explosions heard just to the south of Baghdad, from reporters on the ground.

Just thought it might be useful to distinguish between conjecture and analysis. Analysis is extrapolation of known facts to understand current events, and to predict future events based thereupon. Conjecture is guessing to explain known facts, or to suppose unkown facts.

I see too much conjecture here, though not necessarily on this thread. I'd suggest to Freepers to avoid conjecture. It makes FR less useful.
