Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
To all who helped this get started, thank you!
Special thanks to An.American.Expatriate for staring the daily threads, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

We must be cautious not to get our hopes up too high lest we set ourselves up for major disappointment where that man is concerned.

How about a simple tarp system for each landing pad? OK, a very LARGE and THICK tarp, and nailed down deep, but I would think that would be very easy to pack, transport, install, and remove and pack in a hurry.
Just think of the dust/sand they would save from kicking up, and the maintenance saved because of it, and the bleesing it would be to the nearby troops....

Well, the good thing is not many people watch King on Saturday night.
Arthur Kent is one of those people who peak early in their careers. Right after the Gulf War he was quite famous. They even had him on as a trial host for the Today Show (he was terrible). Then he refused the Yugoslavia assignment, and his career took a decided downturn.
Poor Arthur Kent. He coulda been a contender.

Concrete (or asphalt) covering for a runway, and taxiways, and ground stands (all are blown-sand sources from helicopters) takes LOTS of material, surface prep work (or the impact detroys the new pavement) and tons and tons of equipment, men, and secondary supplies.
(Extra rations, fuel, eqpt, and security for the people running the eqpt doing the paving, plus the tons of the paving eqpt itself. Anything shipped to do paving is something else that NOT SHIPPED to front-line units.)

Fox - Intel. community still trying to find whereabouts of Saddam. Nothing on recent tapes indicate that they were made when Iraq says they were made. Saddam was always scene sitting down. Recent press conference a the MoI shows Saddam's personal body guard standing in the background. He's never been seen away from Saddam, let alone protecting any one other than Saddam. Sources say that Baghdad will fall from the inside out. CIA assets working inside Baghdad.

Yes but the CBS is on.

Fox talking about film of Saddoms personal bodyguard not being seen with Saddom which they say never happens. Could mean Saddom is history. Regime could be crumbling...

Fox's ratings have to be going through the roof. They let the guys give messages home, so you know home town people are watching to see if their people are on TV. I heard that the military people watch Fox almost exclusively.
And that may explain Hackworth's departure from Fox...too many people let them know he was not appreciated for his gloom and doom.

Geraldo going to be back on again in a bit with the troops again.

That is what I think about Bin Laden also.
Two huge egos, frequently seen in earlier times on television ... seen no more, makes you wonder.

Hack is right at home at CNN with his attitude he has towards the military these days and no one there will confront him so he is just peachy with the situation, I'm sure.

"4 Marines were missing, they found the bodies today in a shallow grave, one dismembered
