Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
To all who helped this get started, thank you!
Special thanks to An.American.Expatriate for staring the daily threads, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

3RD INFANTRY UPDATE from KIFLThe officers said the tank unit fired two 120 mm high velocity depleted uranium rounds straight down the main road, creating a powerful vacuum that literally sucked guerrillas out from their hideaways into the street, where they were shot down by small arms fire or run over by the tanks.

Thanks for the info!!
I asked a hunky airforce guy for directions one day. He stared me down, and at the same time kindly gave me directions.
He was awesome and it kept a smile on my face for a long time. Whew, it's getting warm in here!! My heater must be malfunctioning.

The 1425 update of the sitrep map shows the Hammurabi and Medina divisions reduced to brigade strength. Is that a new map, or the "291425Z" map? If the later, by my read, both Ham1 and Med2 have "xx" designations. This is unchanged from the 281536Z map (28 = day of month, 1536Z = 15:36 Zulu (GMT) time). The "xx" designation is Division strength.

B-52......I believe they can drop up to 70,000 lbs of bombs on a target....each bomber. Three B-52's in formation can make a crater 50 feet deep, by 1 square mile. How many sorties since last week? You can bet somebody is in shock right about now.

Thumps off in the distance are now constant..
SV it looks like we are chewing up the RG. Is that a Corp up near that airfield we took the other day...???

Aren't (or weren't) Bill Kristol's parents members of the far, far left (Democratic Socialists or even Communists)? That's what I heard somewhere. Makes his point of view even more valuable to me, much like David Horowitz. They know how the enemy thinks.

Thanks to you and all the guys who filled in the info. Right now, I'm almost thinking that the RG is too far away from Baghdad and with our precision, we can bomb their rear and force them to us.

I don't think it's as much force them to us as it is to keep them from retreating to Baghdad. We'd like them to be at 50% strength before we appraoch from the ground.

B-52: Interesting stats
The area of Iraq is 437,072 sq km.
Two B-52's, in two hours, can monitor 364,000 sq km of ocean surface.

He's had a hard life, you know, being persecuted because he's black and a Muslim.
Rubbish.

LOL...I don't dislike her..just annoys me that she always refers to "her" sources like no one else has any or that hers are exclusive to her.
