Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
To all who helped this get started, thank you!
Special thanks to An.American.Expatriate for staring the daily threads, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

In the Pentagon briefing this was mentioned to give reporters an idea how far we were from Baghdad. Tony mentioned this and said some Washington people go there for the weekend.

Tony Snow mentioned Middleburg, Virginia which is about 50 miles west of Washington, DC. Did anybody hear what he was talking about? I live there! Is Blair visiting or something?
He is referring to a comment that Torie Clarke made to the weanie press pukes about a comparison between the proximity of the troops to Baghdad and the proximity of Middleburg, VA to DC. (or something to that effect, I think. She made the statement when the briefing was nearly over so I was tuning out.)

I must say, Kristol has been an excellent voice on this matter.

The media are reporting this as a sign that things are going wrong. Actually, it is a sign that we have done well, inasmuch as we have out ran our supply line.

FNC banner now saying 5 Americans were killed by the homicide bomber - has another soldier died? No one's mentioned it on the air so hopefully the banner is wrong
I'm glad to see someone is finally calling these murderers what they really are: homicide bombers, not "suicide" bombers.

Fox News: Iraq has rejected the Oil for Food program being reactivated. Said they don't need it.Better tell them we don't care what they think,

To give a little more details: she was saying that if the most awesome military force in the world was bearing down on her as close as Middleburg which is how close we are to Saddam, then if she was Saddam she would be very worried. LOL

They had a camera pointed toward the river and you can see the missile as it hits the target to the right of the picture.. It was only one cruise missile or JDAM that hit.

Well the VP of Iraq hasn't figured that out yet. As of this morning, in his little press brief he summarily rejected it.

Actually, it is a sign that we have done well, inasmuch as we have out ran our supply line. Agreed....but I hate to see more of our guys getting blown up like today....they must think about EVERY POSSIBLE EVIL being done to them, the unimaginable, to protect themselves!

She really is striking. I like Bob Sellers a lot though. I bet many of the anchors are having to study a little bit of geography and history now. Many don't learn about it at the elite universities.

Interesting report on FNC - Spokesman for PM Blair said they have intelligence reports that the General in charge of the Baghdad air defenses has bee "replaced" as there have been "problems" with missiles fired at Allied planes "falling back to earth". They now believe that those missiles were the ones that hit the markets.
Oops.
