Blast near Baghdad information ministry - witness
BAGHDAD (Reuters) - A huge explosion in the area of the Information Ministry in Baghdad early Saturday sent clouds of white smoke into the sky and shook windows in the city center, Reuters correspondents in the Iraqi capital said.
"It was a huge explosion, it either hit the information ministry or was very close," correspondent Khaled Yacoub Oweis said, adding that the blast shook the windows of buildings on the opposite side of the Tigris river. ^

Why do we keep fighting when we are losing the war? Don't we puny Americans realize we are no match for Benevolent Leader Sadaam? </sarcasm>

This sounds a lot like the HUGH explosion previously reported.

Iraq satellite TV goes off air after Baghdad raids
DUBAI, March 28 (Reuters) - Iraq's international satellite television channel went off the air on Friday in the latest disruption of its broadcasts following U.S.-led raids on the Iraqi capital Baghdad.
The 24-hour channel, monitored in Dubai, went dead around 1800 GMT.
Earlier, U.S. defense officials said a radar-avoiding B-2 stealth bomber had dropped two 4,600-pound bombs on a communications centre in downtown Baghdad on Friday as part of the U.S.-led war on Iraq.
The station, which airs Iraqi military statements and patriotic songs, had resumed broadcasting after several interruptions in the past few day.

Anybody remaining in any official building in Baghdad would have to be pretty stoopid.

Oh BTW did you hear that we finally figured out why we keep hitting markets. There was a misprint on the Op Order. It was supposed to say CARPET Bombing not MARKET Bombing. Darn Buffs.

unfortunately, I fear that "western" journalists are virtually being held hostage or as human shields. Too bad. Apparently there is no value to human life by the regime, unless it is theirs.

The Iraqi government also reports that the bomb bounced off of the building and destroyed another marketplace and a baby milk factory. Thousands of children were killed and one adult lost his leg. They don't know which leg as Saddam's doctors haven't decided if they want to amputate the left or right yet.

On Fox they showed the "roof cam" - the one with that low 2-stroy building across the street. There's a flash and boom off to the right, glass can be seen and heard falling from the windows across the street, and then bruning debris comes falling right in front (a few feet away) of the camera. I bet whoever keeps the lens clean was glad he wasn't there!
They talked about a bomb or a missle, and one of the "experts" said "or a special ops placement of an explosive charge". Next time I'd like to see a gloved hand place a cardborard sign in front of the roof cam right after an explosion - like "1 down, 2367 more to go", or "I'm coming for you Saddam".

Information Ministry is marked on the map of Baghdad in the current Navy Times. It's right next to the Sinak Bridge.
