London Mirror ^ | March 28, 2003 | V. Brooks

Some United States Marines are reportedly running short of food and ammunition.

Others have been pinned down for days trying to clar Iraqi resistance.

But United States Central Command Headquarters insists that everything in Operation Iraq Freedom is going fine.

'Our plan is working, and we are one day closer to achieving our objectives Brigadier General Vincent Brooks said at a daily breifing.

Reporters in Central Iraq have said that some units are running short of food, fuel and ammunition, much of which was expended battling an Iraqi army the brass and some politicans hoped would melt away.

This is perhaps one of the hardest things about watching the briefings, listening to the stipd questions posed by anti American journalists, that are trying their hardest to make the coalition look bad in any manner, shape or form. They just keep trying, from all angles.

Tony Snow (or was it Brit Hume) was on Fox News this morning saying the same thing. I had to laugh, he commented that the "journalists" kept asking one of two incredibly stupid questions, either "How long will the war last?" or "How much will the war cost?" He had the perfect answer: only God knows, go ask Him.

It's amazing that the reporters are somehow all up in arms that Marines might be pinned down in a fire fight. Imagine that, Marines fighting. Nah, couldn't happen.

Based on what we did in DS1, this is total BS. I bet I had enough cases of MREs on my vehicle to last us a month when we crossed into Iraq. We had enough water to last at least two weeks. I even had enough smokes to last a month.

I just wish that one of the briefers would look these journalists right straight in the eyes and say 'Why don't YOU ask SADDAM at his next press briefing.'

...Marines might be pinned down in a fire fight...

To be truer to the Marine view, should probably read, "Marines are too busy kicking Iraqi butt to move forward."

They need to bring in Rumsfeld to Centcom for a couple of days to handle the reporters.

Gee, if Rumsfeld could DO that to certain journalists, and if they put it on pay for view, they wouldn't have to ask congress for any money to support the military. They'd be rolling it!!

In reality they are getting 2 MRE's instead of 3 per day.

That's more than enuff... I could never get more'n two MRE's down my neck in a day... that's plenty of calories...

IF our troops really are short of food and ammo,

heads should roll.

No rationalizations accepted.

The only reason they are getting 2MRE's is because they are working 24 hour a day round the clock shifts to repair the choppers from the sandtorms. (and this is an isolated case)

Heard an embedded reporter today say he had not seen a case where they were without food OR running short of things like ammo.

Actually, when we pulled out of Southern Iraq, we gave all our extra food and water to the civilians. They were most appreciative.

They said this same thing on 60 minutes 2 this week. I laughed. What a joke and an out and out lie.

It's so nice that the socialists are concerned about the welfare our Marines. And I'm sure that we will take good care of them.
