Support the Troops Rally set for Sunday
By Bill Hess
HERALD/REVIEW
SIERRA VISTA, AZ - One type of an army is reaching out to soldiers of America's Army with a Support the Troops Rally from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday.
Salvation Army Capt. Tammy Ray, who is helping to organize the event, said there hasnt been any large organized rally to show support for the forces fighting in Iraq, especially the men and women from Fort Huachuca who have been deployed to that region.
The rally also will show support for the men and women who have families in the area who are assigned to other military units in the nation and the National Guard and Reserve force members called up to serve.
The objective of the Sunday rally is to form a line of supporters along Fry Boulevard from Veterans Memorial Park to the forts Main Gate, Ray said.
People are asked to dress in red, white, and blue attire, or those who are current or former military in their uniforms, Ray said. She added that people are asked to bring American flags and appropriate banners to the event.
Ray said the rally is a non-confrontational event, and is meant for local residents who support the soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines to wave at people as they drive by.

Please post an after action report with photos if possible. We are compiling the photos for a CD Tribute, and keeping a running list of pro-Troop events for media exposure.
Please ping A Navy Vet, Bob J, and diotima. Thank you.

Good luck to you! My Dad was in the army and I spent the first part of the sixties in Ft. Huachuca -- a great place to live, especially for a kid! Saddened on a recent trip to see that they're tearing down my old house in Bonnie Blink.

I just got off the phone with the organizer. The DO have a permit for this so there should be little problem in that respect. I've registered the rally on the Rally For America website too. See you all there.

Your house is long gone, as is mine. I lived at 113B Burt Rd., with nothing behind me but mountain, deer, javelina, and mountain lions.
They've been replaced with some really nice modernized (for Army quarters, that is!) split-level duplexes. One side is single story, and the other is 2-story. Almost all of the old oaks and cottonwoods have been left standing, and the cemetery is just as beautiful as ever.
Any time you feel like coming back, just holler and we'll put on the feed for ya'...or something!

Support our President - Support our Troops Rally
March 29, 2003
10:00 AM
Patriots Square Park, Phoenix, Arizona 1 block west of America West Arena) The 'Liberal Left' protestors (financed and supported by enemies of the United States!) have every intention of not only continuing their Anti-Freedom, Anti-American protests, but also increasing their scale, scope and frequency now that the military conflict with Iraq has commenced. ---SNIP---
Please help in this cause by spreading the word, attending the rally, and encouraging friends and neighbors to attend (Bring at least 2 people other than yourself). Please bring signs supporting our Troops, American flags, and most importantly, bring your enthusiasm and your Patriotism!! Bring your children to the rally -- it is so important to show them that encouraging our military men and women, supporting an honorable President, and showing Patriotism in your Country are righteous acts not to mention it makes you feel great!

Hall Circle is still there, Sr. NCO or large family (4-bedroom) quarters, the homes have all been upgraded and they've built a privacy wall along Irwin and Hatfield streets.
That area still has just about the nicest view of the surrounding mountains and the San Pedro River Valley, although I wouldn't trade it for the Bonnie Blink housing area.
If you ever decide to visit, give us a holler! We'll have a barbecue, or something!!!

Sorry, but it's gone. Some poor fool broke an arm while on a painting detail up there, and the post's CG ordered the patch removed. That happened while I was still active duty, around '94 or so.
