Pro-war rally Saturday in Laconia, NH

LACONIA — A high school sophomore is working in tandem with radio personality Niel Young to organize a pro war rally for this Saturday afternoon.

Young invited Laconia High School sophomore Trevor Chandler onto his WEZS talk program after reading a letter to the editor Chandler had written.

"I was down in the dumps about this war on Monday. Then I read a letter written by Trevor and my day brightened. We talked, and by the end of the conversation he had become a guest on the program and my partner in organizing the rally," said Young.

"I like young people who take a stand, even if it differs from mine," said Young.

Commanders of the local Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion posts are also participating in the rally, which is scheduled for this Saturday at 1 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park and should last about two hours, Young said.

Part of the reason for holding the rally at the park is to avoid disrupting businesses downtown with the rally.

"When we began organizing it, I would have said if 50 to 100 people had shown up the rally would have been a success, but I think it’s possible we could get double that," said Young.

I really wish someone would point out that it's NOT a 'pro-war' rally, it's a 'PRO-AMERICA' rally. I have to figure that the citizen may be taking a swing at the Bush supporters.

Well Uncle, will draft-dodging-Jeb-Bradley be there to recount how he was stuffing envelopes for George McGovern while men his age were fighting Vietnam. I notice you are in Laconia...any inside information on how this pansy got elected to Congress?

I don't know who will be there, try calling the radio station.

I guess more people voted for Bradley than the other candidate?

Actually, Bradley got less than a third of the vote...good argument for a run off system isn't it? If folks really want to support the troops they can start be electing folks to congress who were man enough to serve their country in uniform!

Please post an after-action report with photos if possible. We are compiling the photos for a CD Tribute, and keeping a running list of pro-Troop events for media exposure.

Please ping A Navy Vet, Bob J, and diotima. Thank you.

I'm with you.. NONE of us are "PRO" WAR.

We are PRO FREEDOM AND SECURITY. We are PRO TROOPS and SUPPORT THIS COMMANDER IN CHIEF!!

We are ANTI-SADDISTIC MURDEROUS DICTATOR.

Our rallies are PEACEFUL, unlike the anti-war/America rallies.

We understand that others in the world deserve a life with the freedoms afforded us. Our kind of FREEDOM is a BASIC HUMAN RIGHT!! Freedoms to live out a full life with your families.. freedom from KNOWING a family member who has been murdered or tortured by your Government. Freedom to speak freely,... to pursuit happiness.

Not one population should be tortured in masse and the world turn her collective head away from it. How soon we forget Nazi Germany and Hitler!!

Our men and women died fighting evil men like Hitler and in doing so "NEVER AGAIN". We must insure that their deaths were not in vain. To turn our heads from what is happening would be the epitomy of selfishness and cowardess.

Perhaps we should post the multitude of photo's showing the death camps again.. ?

Sometimes I think we sheild the public too much from reality. It's easy to put your head in the sand when you won't accept other peoples "reality". If only "some" Americans and others around the world could "walk a mile" in an Iraqi's shoes.

I have some pictures of the Laconia Rally but I don't have anyway of posting them.
If someone has the capabilities I'll gladly send them the pics.
