During the first Gulf War, they flew their planes to Iran so we wouldn't blow them out of the sky. I don't think Iran ever gave them back Heh.Heh.
Dio: These are such awesome pictures. They show so beautifully the compassion of the Coalition forces, and that contrasts so starkly with the brutality of the Hussein regime.
The aircraft they flew to Iran was the same as what they have in inventory; Russian and Chinese (J-6/J-7, essentially copies of the MiG-19 & MiG-21), with the best being French (Mirage 3, Mirage F-1s). The "U.S. armed Iraq" lie is a myth, but unfortunately it is one that has been repeated for so long that almost everyone believes it. Not a single US fighter has EVER been sold to Iraq.
Sadly, the fact that people still believe this lie, even when all it would take to disprove it is a simple trip to a decent library (get a copy of Jane's and see for yourself what equipment is in the Iraqi inventory) shows just how effective the "big lie" campaigns of the leftists can be.
