Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running over the weekend and Monday, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

Just by name. I was in the Cambodian border area twice for about 6 months during my tour ( Oct '67 - Oct '68) On the coast patrol boat units. PCF's or 'Swift Boats'. Mekong Delta during the Tet offensive. Where was your Dad during Tet?

Ok, I shut up, I should not have quoted the media. I regret my fault. :-)

BBC Q: shift--did we underestimate, is it weather, is it poor advice?
Tony: We reach this point in conflicts where we ask time of end. By the way it's reported, it makes it seem that it's longer. It's just been a week. Coalition forces w/in 50 miles of B-dad. We will carry on until the job is done. This is set not by time but the nature of the job. An enormous has already been achieved.
We deliberately set out to do this to protect the future of the Iraqi people. We target as precisely as we can...target Saddamn's, not Iraqi people.

Jah, in Deutsche. Our symphony conductor is originally from Germany (Andreas Delfs.) He has a GREAT grip on the music of Ludwig and J. Brahms.
SOOO....not only in German, but in VERY GOOD German!

The media promised us the fast and clean war - now that it doesn´t take place, the media slams the leaders for that.

I would like to know if GWB says anything about Iraq reconstruction, and by whom. Thanks.

Q: war crimes...will we retaliate with nukular weapons if CWs used?
Prez: telling story of a brutal act...SH brutal by nature...not surprised by various cruel acts...if SH uses WMD we'll deal with it...we will achieve victory...if use WMD will be tried for war crime....we'll keep our word to Iraqi people and war criminals in Iraq.

Looks pitch black to me in Media PlayerYou can see the video artifacts come up every now and then (the "lint/dustmotes" across the feed); when the flashes come, you'll see the horizon about 2/3 of the way down the screen. They're in nightscope mode.

Thanks to everyone explaining to me that Rummy didn't say this.
I am thoroughly disgusted by this.

Come on President Bush - just say the reason we don't have support of some countries is because of their business dealings.

Bush was asked if we would retaliate with nukes if chemical weapons were used in theatre. He didn't address that directly, but said that Iraqis who use chem weapons will be tried as war criminals (i.e., won't be radioactive cinders), and that we WILL keep our word. If you doubt our word, look back at events of last month.
