I don't give a damn if every single accusation is true. If they don't have a bullet in their head, they're getting too good of a deal in my book.

If the prisoner's testimony (those who recanted) was called for in a criminal court, they would be terrible witnesses, because they either lied when saying that they were treated fine, or lied when they said they were beaten.

More lies, unchallenged by the news media.

You know some people would complain if they were hung with a new rope.

The UN should pass a resolution and Belgium could try us for war crimes.

'Seated cross-legged on a floor of the Kabul Police Department jail yesterday, nearly all of the former detainees enthusiastically praised the conditions at Guantanamo and expressed little bitterness about losing a year of their lives in captivity, saying they were treated better there than in three days in squalid cells in Kabul. None complained of torture during questioning or coerced confessions.'

Couldn't tell that by ther title.

Seems though we treat them as good as they want to be treated. If theymake a commotion and challenge the guards they get less than hospitable treatment.

You have to keep in mind we're trying to weed out who wants to kill us and who hates us but doesn't want to kill us.

''The conditions were even better than our homes. We were given three meals a day -- eggs in the morning and meat twice a day; facilities to wash, and if we didn't wash, they'd wash us; and there was even entertainment with video games,'

"If we are to be imprisoned, I want to go back to Guantanamo,'' he said, banging on a table.

Life in the American Gulag. ;-)

The men said they did not know of anyone having been beaten during interrogation.

Sounds like they were treated as good, if not better than prisoners in our every day US jail. If you plan on sending them back out, you may as well show them first hand that we are not the fanatical evil satans that they were brainwashed to believe.

Murtaza complained about being put in rooms with frigid air-conditioning

Oh wow, torture by air conditioning!

Is this author suggesting that we reward those who do not cooperate and punish those who do?

Only in Boston.
