UPDATE

Dear Americans,

Tuesday I mailed all of you about the war, and asked you to sign a petition supporting our troops in their quest to free the people of Iraq.

I also told you that for every 1000 of you that signed the petition, MillionsofAmericans.com would pay for a care package to the troops to be mailed via the United Service Organizations (USO). These care packages contain an assortment of items that our military have specifically requested such as prepaid international calling cards, disposable cameras, toiletries, and sunscreen. They also include greetings from the American public, transcribed by hand, onto official Operation USO Care Package post cards.

I'm writing to give you an update. Since I wrote yesterday, over 10,000 of you have signed the petition! That's more than 10,000 signers in less than 24 hours! Also, we've received more than 9,000 emails to our troops, some of them very touching. We've had great success.

Friends, we're rolling right now; people are signing left and right, and even more notes are coming in literally as I write this. Let's not stop here! Our troops need to know just how much love and respect we have for them.

I wanted to let you know that I kept my word. Today we sent ten care packages with selected notes from some of you who have written to our troops in Iraq. Hopefully with your help we'll send many more.

We didn't stop there though. It's been a busy day! The names of those of you who signed the petition have been sent to Sec. of Defense Rumsfeld along with a note of encouragement. The letter told him just how strong our support is for him, our soldiers in Iraq, and President Bush.

Please, if you haven't already, go to the link below, and sign the petition supporting the troops. Tell them how you feel about the good work they are doing.

And again, for every 1,000 of you that sign the petition, MOA will pay for a care package with a note enclosed to be sent to our forces in Iraq.

To: Sec. of Defense Donald Rumsfeld

Whereas, 250,000 Americans in uniform are now protecting America and the world from Saddam Hussein -- the evil dictator who has murdered thousands of his own people, and is bent on the destruction of the United States, and on creating instability in the world; and,

Whereas, our American fighting men and women are personally subject to the very weapons of mass destruction that Iraq has denied having; and,

Whereas, our soldiers have shouldered the burden of bringing Saddam Hussein, his sons, and his top generals to justice; and,

Whereas, while our forces are putting their own lives in danger for freedom, the radical anti-war Left despises their sacrifice. They seek to achieve civil unrest through violent protest. They are doing everything in their power to make the world community believe that the American people do not support our men and women in uniform;

Therefore, Mr. Secretary, tell our troops that the American people do wholeheartedly support them in this war in Iraq, and that we we pray for their swift victory and safe return.
