I would love to meet ONE sixth grader who knows a wit about "just war" theory.
Pubic schools are downright evil.

"Yesterday I signed a petition prepared and presented to me by sixth graders at Florence Nightingale Middle School," Hahn said in a statement Tuesday. "I regret that I did not read it word for word before I signed.Did the Dixie Chicks PR rep write this for him?

I voted for Hahn and even put up campaign signs around the largely liberal Silverlake/Atwater/Los Feliz areas after I found out about Villaraigosa's past, which he refuses to disavow:

Gee, I wonder why private schools and home schooling are so popular? Can anybody guess?

"In February, Hahn signed a City Council resolution opposing a war without United Nations backing. He had not previously gone so far as to call the war unjust."
Okay, so what am I missing here?

The great future of America rests in the hands of home schooled children. And they will accomplish much, simply because of their superior education. The public school children will fall apart, as they already are, simply because they can't read or write. School vouchers won't help until the majority of Americans who have kids in public schools stand up and scream for just reading, writing and arithmetic for their children. Unfortunately, I don't think these parents, public schooled themselves, have the intelligence.

Has anyone ever confronted the fascists in the educational system? My son came home one day from his private and sadly non-religious school saying his class had been browbeaten into signing a letter to GWB re: drilling for oil in Alaska. The letter read "You can replace oil, but you can't replace animals". After I discussed with my son that the reverse was true (aniimals being a renewable resource if not pushed to extinction, but oil is a nonrenewable resource), I marched in to the principle's office and demanded that my son not be used for political purposes, especially without my permission. Her response was 1. this was merely an exercise in critical thinking (ignoring the fact that it was bumper-sticker blather at its worst)2. sending letters to the President was not a political act 3. educators are in a better position to determine what children should or should not participate in than their parents. It was one of the most frustrating experiences I've ever had. Screw 'em.

He got duped by sixth graders. What a maroon. Cut some slack here. This might have been a particularly bright group of sixth graders.

Who is this Mayor James Hahn, an out of work actor?
