However, IF I were his boss, I'd consider re-hiring him and asking him to make sure it didn't happen again.

Which of course wasn't the point of your first post.

I mean it's not like the guy spit on someones food, is it?

He didn't murder anyone either, what's the point?

Do you fire people because they make one minor error?

No, this wasn't minor as far as the employer was concerned, nor would I concider it so. Think about what this guy did while he was supposed to be working. Even he himself knew he would lose his job.

As I suggested, I think Tom Mohaghan would have re-hired him.

I doubt it, if he would it would be a poor business decision in my view. You seem to be disturbed by this because you agree with the guy's point. I'm guessing you might think differently if he had done it to someone who had a different sign in the window. Say perhaps an NRA sign, or a flag, or an anti abortion message.

He did it, it was thoughtless, it showed no self control, it showed poor judgement and he admitted it like a man and moved on.

One could speculate that he was delivering pizzas for a reason, possibly inappropriate behavior in the past.

Oh well, carry on.

No? It was precisely the point of my first post where I said.... If Tom Monaghan still owned the company I think he'd make sure this guy was re-hired. I know I would.

Oh well, carry on.

Okay. You and I just have different philosophies of evaluating and considering giving a person a second chance. If I had an employee who performed their job well I would consider giving them a second chance, even if they had "lectured" someone about their NRA sticker. I can separate politics from work relationships, personal friendships, and entertainment.
