SYRACUSE, N.Y. President Bush's proposed budget for fighting Baghdad does not contain enough money for protecting the United States at home, U.S. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton said Monday.
Bush is expected to ask Congress for $74.7 billion to pay for the war with Iraq, based on an estimated six months of operations there, and for strengthening counterterrorism efforts at home, lawmakers and aides said Monday. The money measure was dominated by $62.6 billion for the Department of Defense.
The bill also is expected to include about $4.2 billion for domestic security programs, such as assistance for police and other emergency workers.
Clinton said at least 10 percent of the total war budget should go toward homeland security.
''To do less means that we are not recognizing that we are in a two-front war. We are on the offense in Iraq, and we have to finish the job ... But we are also on defense here at home,'' Clinton said after speaking to farmers at a U.S. Department of Agriculture forum in Liverpool, just outside Syracuse.
The New York Democrat has proposed $7 billion for homeland security and has written to President Bush asking him to support the proposal. Her proposal would include $5 billion in direct funding for first responders; $1 billion for an emergency reserve fund that cities and states could tap into in times of heightened threat, discovery of a terrorist cell, or similar emergency need; and $1 billion for ''high-threat'' areas like New York City and Washington.
White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Clinton, a member of the Senate Armed Forces Committee, said she expected Bush's proposal would receive ''overwhelming'' support. She said she agreed the military should be given what it needs for a successful campaign.
''When we start something like this, it is imperative that we see it through,'' she said. ''Not only see it through on the battlefield, but see it through here at home, standing by the men and women who are putting themselves in harm's way.''

Although probably more innately evil, she's not as politically stupid as Dasshole. She searched long and hard for some way to criticize Bush without drawing heat on herself and she came up with this.
Pointless, but crafty.

Will someone tell this New York Senator that the war against terror is not lying on the door step of her first responders.
Please tell this din-wit the war on terror should be focused on those that hopefully will be able to better prevent the act of terror and there-fore we will not need to use her first responders.
Her first responders react after the fact. We conservative type would like to prevent the terror act and therefore not use her first responders at all.
Wake up New York. She is part of the problem not the solution

Let's explore the logic here a bit. By spending money to remove a terrorist regime abroad and using less here at home we are more at risk?
Frankly, over the long run, I'd rather remove the actual disease (Saddam, Bin Laden, etc) instead of just treating the symptom (a couple of terrorists).

Hillary has never been able to distinguish a philander from a murderer, or a real poisoner and bomber from a hero.

It was just a matter of time before the she-bat from H*ll climbed down to attack the President AGAIN.
Outside of her femiNazi and east/left coast elite circles, Hillary! has no credibility on the issue of national security. She has her "Too-Busy-Raping-And-Staining" husband to thank for that

President Bush's proposed budget for fighting Baghdad does not contain enough money for protecting the United States at home, U.S. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton said Monday. Maybe the Senator from NY could ask her lefty friends to stop the disrupting protests across America, saving money, manpower and resources for Homeland Security.

New York City doesn't deserve a nickel of Federal "homeland security" aid as long as it refuses to allow law-abiding citizens to carry firearms in public. This would be far more effective and certainly less costly than having a bunch of cops and National Guard personnel walking around with gas masks and M-16s.

Hillarity cares about the defense of the US?Actually, I think when (shivver's down the spine) she becomes president she will be a hawk.
I think her presidency, probably the last one ofcourse, will be very unlike her husbands.

If her husband had done his job, we wouldn't be in this mess. He reemed the military big time, whimped out in Somalia, kissed Chinese butt, helped PC judges into power so nothing could be done against enemies, etc. Hillary needs to shut up. (okay, I'm done now)

You know we now have state troopers riding on our trains. Its like a war zone going into the city. You get off the train and cops are stationed on the bridge connecting the platforms with guns watching the people get off! You feel safe but more nervous!

You know we now have state troopers riding on our trains. I am not impressed. That should have become a standard security measure the day after the Colin Ferguson incident on the Long Island Rail Road.

Would like to see the numbers for costs incurred to contain the Peace Riots.Fox News had something on their ticker yesterday pertaining to that. It's costing 900K in O.T. alone a day to "manage the protests". Thing is, I don't know if that was nation wide, or highlighting certain areas.

All the RATS want is more money sent "home" to the
DemocRAT Party "War Machine". For years the RATs
have kept up their war machine simply for the the local,
state, and national elections....
