"We're in the beginning of a long period of "21st Century warfare" with Islamism. The sooner the politicians and media deal with this soberly and justly, the better."
I think the "coalition of the willing" is presently doing so.
From the outset, Bush indicated a grasp of the magnitude of the threat, even though many were disappointed that he didn't just point the finger at ALL of Islam.
It will fall to Islam, to in effect "self-declare" by actions, if the threat is something less than ALL of Islam, or the whole bunch of them.
If the thrashing of the radicals is severe enough, perhaps the remainder will decide that being "peaceful and tolerant" is the means to surviving.
By that I mean individuals and nations.

For that to work, we need to terminate with extreme prejudice the radicals in Iraq. All the Saddam Fadayeen, much of the Ba'ath party and RG. Anyone who violate Geneva Convention laws of warfare and bears arms against us in civilian clothes.
After the 507th, I think this will mostly take care of itself.

Well put, but I don't know that I've heard that the coalition of the willing is speaking much about Islamism.
