I knew the government was really backing us but I am heartened by public support.

Not that we shouldn't help them, mind you. It's morally and strategically in our best interests.

Agreed. Even beyond knowing who our friends are, it is just such a pleasure to see people who DON'T suffer from craniorectal inversion.

It would be nice to have a brigade or so of Japanese troops. It certanly would shorten the war.

Yeah, they are great allies...AND WE NUKED THEM TWICE! Perhaps we should repeat history with Iraq.

Your headline isn't quite correct. Regardless of whether or not they want the war, 76% of Japanese people want their government to back the US on it (because they like having our support when they're in trouble)

I wish our polls were that straight forward. Pinko libs always sabatoge the questions to slant towards a probable liberal position.

I think you're misrepresenting reality with that assumption. There are clearly some Japanese who sincerely understand that we're doing the right thing.

There are percentages of every population (even a percentage of the French population, some of whom must be hiding in attics by now) who genuinely respect the seriousness of the situation, and realize that Saddam had to be taken out and somebody had to do it.

We shouldn't cynically dismiss support for the US.

Yet France has a seat on the Security Council and Japan does not. What a joke.

The largest and second largest economy nations support miitary action (US & Japan). Britain is in the top ten economies, too.

We are also supported by Spain, Italy, Portugal, Poland, Denmark, Australia, Netherlands. Together they add up to economic power.

OTOH France and Germany have armies combined, smaller than Mexico. They have economic power, but not military strength.

Not directly related facts; but interesting to ponder in the long range picture.

Visualise a Pacific Coalition of Freedom: Australia, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and the USA.

Wouldn't that rattle a few tyrants' cages?

You bet they support us.

They're number one fear is chemical WMD's and also North Korea's threats to Nuke'em.

I believe they've already had an attack in their subway system. Nest Paw?
