Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running over the weekend and Monday, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...
TOPICS: Breaking News; Foreign Affairs; War on Terror

YOu know what they say about Stratfor; chuck half immediately and take the other half with a mountain of salt.
I wouldn't doubt that the forces are tired; they're moving through opposed territory at a speed that most armies can't do through their home territory.

Mort keeps hammering on how everyone thought this was going to be so easy. Seems to me MORT thought that...don't know about everyone else. The ONLY ones that were saying that this was going to be easy was the MEDIA
Maybe they should pay attention to what comes out of their mouths

I understand...I was referring more to the argot heard by people calling each other "Dog! Wassup?!"
Never understood that. I saw George Clinton on MTV years ago, and every other word was "Dog".
Reminds me of when I used to go to the local market, and the guy behind the counter had a T-Shirt that had a picture of Malcolm X, and the words "Don't Try To Understand...It's A Black Thing"
So I wanted to make a T-Shirt with a picture of Beethoven on it, with the words "Don't Try To Understand, It's A White Thing," but I wasn't sure if the guy would think I was being a rascist!!

Ship transportation of heavy equipment takes a loooooooooooong time at 20 knots.
The ships (tanks, Bradleys, trucks, fuel trucks, supplies have to go from outside Turkey (Black Sea I think) down past Egypt, then back UP past everybody to the ports in Kuwait, then regroup, arm, refuel, organize and go inland.
The troops can sit at home (its cheaper and they have better quarters (they can sleep better, eat better, rest better, train better) then fly in a 12 hours to meet the eqpt that took two weeks to get to port.
All thanks to ONE MAN in Turkey's parliament who blocked existing the majority vote and prevented the measure from passing.
Seems this ONE MAN in Turkey pulled a Dasshole move and played games with the number of voters required: some were absent and he pulled rules to void the majority ballot.

Bummer. So what's the deal? Was it just technical difficulties? I thought our guys had taken it out. We need to do it again.

I thought I just heard Brit say that Iraqi TV is back on. Is that true? He said something confusing - can't remember his exact words - but later said it was still off.
