Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running over the weekend and Monday, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

Major Garrett now reporting from Pentagon that the reason it took so long to take out Iraqi TV was that it was surrounded and protected by civilians........Weren't there reports earlier that a day care center was in there?

If she's in texas where I saw the funnel cloud footage, the crazy thing is that there aren't many basements in homes there. Don't know why. Bentonite in soil maybe?? still...

500 enemy troops is not a massive engagement. That is just two companiesBeware of raw numbers.
Another way to look at it, if in fact these are not militia, is that two or three battalions are now at less than 60% strength -- no longer very effective in other words. It's a good day's work.

There are still Western journalists in Baghdad who have their own uplinks to their respective networks. The Iraqis probably told them, who in turn told their bosses back here.

Yup Then add in the shock factor to the other troops. I don't know how they can count them which leaves me suspicious.

Iraqi TV gone bye-bye? Good.
Our forces engaged with soon-to-be-deceased Iraqis in Karbala? Good.
I just cleaned my house, and I have a cold. I'm headed to the doc in an hour or so.

thump and a single gunshot That sounds backward. A gunshot then the thump sounds better. ;^D Prairie

Was anyone else relieved on Monday morning when their husband's went to work? I really, all kidding aside, think I have some kind of unhealthy dependency going on here.
