Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running over the weekend and Monday, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

You make make two cats with the hair off of MY floor. Every night(dawnish) when I go to bed I swear I will clean in the morning(tenish). I can not seem to tear myself away from FR/war long enough to do it. I am dirty, tired, and hungry. I ate nine tatertots and frozen peas last night for dinner because it was all I had. My husband is working the night shift, so he brings home McDonalds for breakfast, sleeps, goes to work and ,luckily, eats at the hospital!!!! If I had a job I would have been fired by now!!

We took out the TV? WAY TO GO! I thought it was just experiencing technical difficulties due to the bombings or something. This warms my heart! That Iraqi TV has been on for far too long. WAY TO GO GUYS!!

500 enemy troops is not a massive engagement. That is just two companies That many casualties, though, bespeaks a much larger Iraqi force.
OTOH, given that the action is "on-going," I don't know who'd be bothering to count bodies. I'm guessing this story will change over time.

...Or,maybe we dropped the Mother of All Bombs on the Republican Guard outside of town. I heard on Fox that right before the lights and TV went off that there was a huge explosion outside of the city that literally had the ground shaking. I heard it a few hours ago.

Read -- That 300 to 5000 KIA or Wounded -- not the size of the force!!

I thought it was just experiencing technical difficulties due to the bombings or something Per FNC, that's the story Iraqi authorities are giving out (actually I'm not sure if they're blaming it on bombs or not). Of course, FNC didn't say just how the authorities were getting this story out.

Just FYI: Special Forces refers specifically to the Green Berrets, whose mission is primarily to organize local forces and train them with U.S. military doctrine (like what we're doing with the Kurds).
Special Operations refers to any of our elite warfare units, including the Special Forces, SEALs, Delta, Special Boat Units, etc. They were all put under a
single command in the late '90s.

I don't know who'd be bothering to count bodies. How can they see to count bodies in a sandstorm?
