Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running over the weekend and Monday, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

Our economy can survive anything. The French economy already has about 15% unemployment. Any lost trade with us will effect them big time.

The Brits are doing an admirable job, given their troop numbers. We owe them a debt of gratitude. Also those polish special forces, only 200 of them, but they have completed a number of missions successfully. They have more honor than the whole of the France bureaucracy.

And the Frenchman's response: "That would be very un-French."
Neil agreed with him.

Big Mac's are at McDonalds too.
The quarter pounder in France is called the royale because quarter pounder doesn't make any sense with the metric system.
metric right?
To: ican'tbelieveit
Ok, maybe a dog and a bird is the screeching sound?
To: ican'tbelieveit
Don't some of those sounds remind you of post apocalyptic movies where there are electrical storms, etc?"Soylent Green are PEOPLE!!!"

I just got caught back up. Any confirmation on this Iraqi TV business besides CNN?
To: abnegation

The French economy already has about 15% unemployment. It is important to realize that the french guvmnt has decreed that it is illegal to work more than 35 hours/week. That their unemployment is so high despite this is very telling about the strength of their economy.

To: gop212
Reuters confirmed it.
To: SoldiersGirl
The dog got mad 'cause I mentioned PETA...
To: mhking
A play off of what was said before, wouldn't you be screeching like that if someone was trying to make stew out of you? (the bird)

The Brits are doing an admirable job........We owe them a debt of gratitude. Also those polish special forces...... Agreed.
To: Vol2727
I had predicted this.....Just an aside, the sounds on the PMS webcam ARE really spooky.
To: mhking
Did anyone just hear screaming on the webcam??

Nope, it was Brit to Brit ground forces. One tank to another. So, Americans weren't involved in this friendly fire?
To: AFPhys
I'll be happy when their weekly quota is 10 hours and their unemployment hits 50%. And I want to see what they think of Sharia law, too...
To: Otta B Sleepin
I'm so Proud of us for not making a single joke about the polish special forces
signed,

dogs have sensitive hearing. the bombs/ground shaking is a low frequecy which they can hear. When we lived in CA our dog could signal a quake, but you couldn't move fast enough to do anything about it. I was there in SJ in '89 with the dog on the floor next to me. Dog jumped straight up before the quake hit. Thought the dog was electrocuted. Must have jumped 3 feet off the floor. I was trying to see what happened to the dog, when s*** hit the fan.
