The more of these press ops I see,the more I am convinced that Free Republic needs to be given press credentials so there can finally be someone asking intelligent and insightful questions . The circulation of some of these dailies is less than the hits FR gets. I don't know why the WH or Pentagon doesn't get into the 21st century and actually include internet reporters in their pressers.Unless for strategic reasons, the WH and Pentagon prefers the press conferences to be a daily expose of the idiocy that populates the mainstream media.

Discussion of health effects of external exposure, ingestion, and inhalation of depleted uranium.

Depleted uranium is not a significant health hazard unless it is taken into the body. External exposure to radiation from depleted uranium is generally not a major concern because the alpha particles emitted by its isotopes travel only a few centimeters in air or can be stopped by a sheet of paper. Also, the uranium-235 that remains in depleted uranium emits only a small amount of low-energy gamma radiation. However, if allowed to enter the body, depleted uranium, like natural uranium, has the potential for both chemical and radiological toxicity with the two important target organs being the kidneys and the lungs. The most likely pathways by which uranium could enter the body are ingestion and inhalation. The relative contribution of each pathway to the total uptake into the body depends on the physical and chemical nature of the uranium, as well as the level and duration of exposure.

The potential health risks associated with uranium compounds are discussed in further detail in Chapter 4 of the PEIS.

I caught the tail-end of that report on Fox. I didn't hear an exact number but it didn't sound like that many.

only one long open road from Jordan to Baghdad. Easy target. And may bump into special ops or (godwilling) the Fourth Armored on the way.

Here's a question. Has Al-Jazeera been allowed to keep its inbedded reporter since they started flashing American corpses?

Welcome. Dumb Dem. reporter de-bunker ammo.

Rummy sounded worried about the uprising in Basrah. Said he remembered the uprisings in the 50s in E. Europe when people were slaughtered...asked that Iraqis wait until we're nearby.

imagine a guy standing behind you, well fed, armed and pointing at your head while you haven't had water or food in quite some time. You've seen your daughter raped, your brother tortured and your wife killed. You know the same awaits your surviving family if you do anything wrong...

you stay and fire your weapon...

Think about it. We manufacture it and load it onto airplanes. How bad could it be?

How would I know. Supposedly it is spread as radioactive dust when the shell explodes.

As the safety technicial at the Springfield nuclear power plant, I feel I should take every precaution. Now if you'll excuse me, its time for my mid-early-morning donut break.

Amanpour stating it's what we want. She's pushing uprising.........

Probably wants to blame more civilian deaths on the Coalition.........that's how the lib networks will twist it (certainly can't have people thinking these civilians want to be free of Saddam's regime).

(/end sarcasm)

Jordan had a problem with refugees during the Gulf War but the last that I was hearing was that they were NOT flocking to Jordan. There are refugee centers set up. I think they would be disarmed before they left. Haven't heard any official report and I thought the road to Jordan was cut off.

This has probably been mentioned, but Freepers have been mentioned (by a pro-war Swiss leftie) on National Review's "The Corner" blog.
