Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running over the weekend and Monday, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...
TOPICS: Breaking News; Foreign Affairs; War on Terror

Doesn't he get sick of having to teach the 'chilren MAYBE .. if our teachers actually taught history in class, these reporters might not ask such stupid question

What an impressive administration! How they keep in control of their emotions, I'll never know. Some awesome discipline, knowledge, straight forwardness. We are indeed Blessed!

Rummy: we're bringing emergency supplies with us "...and the people who are embedded [with the troops] know that..."
Translation: reporters who are actually working for a living have a clue, unlike the slobs who make a living nagging officials at press conferences.

These news conferences are a game. Rummy says 1 question. Reporters try to get a 2nd question. (Reporter has $20 riding on it.)
Reporters have a $20 pool based on who can ask the most idiotic question of the day. At the conclusion of the conference, the winner is the reporter who asked the most stupid question; he/she gets the pool.
[Helen Thomas wins alot, so does Terry Moroan and David Gregory.]

Yes, I saw that documentary too. This was a big deal in GW1. I remember the press core doing all sorts of stories on the Navy using dolphins for this type of job back in 1991. GW1 had a much bigger problem with mines than this GW2.

Press is talking over itself to get the next question in. Rumsfeld calls out "whoa" and points to a (Brit-sounding) reporter, because he was so quiet and courteous, and lets him ask a question.
He asks a question about the uprising in Basra.
Rumsfeld saying basically that Saddam was oppressing his people, that it's only natural they would want to rise up.
