Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running over the weekend and Monday, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

I love Major Bob. This is the Shiite south, so we should've been welcomed, but my guess Saddam's thugs threatened the populace. The Brit presser guy said they think there's about 1000 feyadeen (sp), and the Brits are probing other areas of Basra. Not firing into the center of the city.

This looks like a very good development.
Let's hope that the news media continues to show the world that some of the Iraqi people are willing to come to their own defense and help us.

"The Dems won't be able to resist adding another billion in PORK."
I would be willing to say if that's all they added they would get it just to get the bill passed quickly. They could probably add up to about 10% with out creating much back lash if they give the discretionary usage clause.

When those Muslims explode (and they will)... they will need us, and we will need to aid them. An endangered Europe is an endangered USA...But let's not hurry this time...

Looking through the intraday charts, it hasn't been all that stable. The end result probably will indicate that it is relatively stable, though.

Brits are putting heavy artillery on Saddam's minions.
To: Catspaw
Richard Gaysburg from Sky News. Uprising in Basra. Iraqis are firing on protesters. British are firing on mortar sites. British are massing on outskirts of Basra. Uprising against Bath party. Saddam has been starving the city. Troops will try to get into city as quickly as possible. Will put as much artillery as possible on Bath installations. Leaflets being handed out by "representatives of the British forces" in Basra.

BRITS ready to move in but Saddam's forces still stiff need a bit more softening
Mil Intel popular uprising
To: Miss Marple
I wonder what would result if we destroyed every image of Saddam in each town as we pass through?

It takes awesome courage to protest these terrorists. Sending prayers. We've been broadcasting on 5 radio frequencies since the 17th. Think the Iraqi people are sick of 30 year-old TV reruns!

Pray for those courageous Brits. We know the feyadeen are snipers & will use any ruse to kill troops.
