Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running over the weekend and Monday, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

Fox - Greg Kelly reporting in from the 3rd Infantry. NOT at a standstill due to sandstorm. Local militia a nuisance. Artillery still firing. A little bit of a challenge telling militia from civies. Still going according to plan. Reached intermediate objective (sounded more like a waypoint). No significant changes in strategy. Tempo has slowed due to weather somewhat. Close air support hampered by weather. Overall plan not changed fundamentally, especially UNaffected due to weather.

I had Shy News working fine three days ago for six hours, then I got it up again last night at 7:28 and am refusing to shut it down. I must have tried 30 times to get it back and I'm not going to let it go again. Keep up the Bristol aggression, steve.

CNN confirming one of our F16's took out a patriot missile battery. Battery probably locked on his aircraft. This is soooooo sad! But CNN signed off saying "No US casualties in this incident". Others? I hope not.

Fox - F-16 struck a Patriot radar station. No injuries. Patriot battery was INSIDE Iraq. I believe the spokeswoman said the battery is back up and operational.

TodayWell, today is going to be a very interesting day indeed!

They have done this repeatedly and America has always been there to clean up after them. I say it's time we let them pick themselves up instead of relying on us. I would say yes...
Except
We do that at our own folly. I do believe that the radicals and terrorists in the Muslim populations in Europe are just as much our problem as Europe's...
Plus, Europe has been extremely helpful in the war on terror. What would happen if they just stopped? No more arrests, no more funding cut off, no more intelligence...
I don't want to think of the implications.
I flew over Switzerland, never been there. Would like to go though.

Thank you. After learning that our troops are kicking butt as usual, my favorite quote from today's CENTCOM briefing:
Maj. Gen. Renuart: "There are some who would believe everything they see on television." "As we talk to leaders around the region, around the world - it doesn't seem to be a message that's taking as much as some people think." (re. pro-Iraqi propaganda)

Well, just put in the discard pile, as Cheney, by all reports is doing just fine and has been photographed frequently with President Bush in the last few day. How or why you would posit he is ill as a plausible reason for his absence from this morning's appearance by President Bush defies all logic.
Happy to hear that he's looking healthy. I hope that this health hypothesis is wrong, but when you have your first heart attack in your thirties and have had problems in recent years, it doesn't defy "all logic" to suggest that his health might be a present issue.

Did anyone hear what the guy just said on the MSNBC Bahgdad feed when he broke in for just a few seconds?

My "needing them" has to do with the war on terror only.
We cannot fight a global war on terror without them.
Sorry, you disagree.
