Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running over the weekend and Monday, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

Q: Asking about democratic pluralism. Shiites majority--what happens if they choose to exercise this power?
Tony: North has a fledgling democracy. Most will want to live in plurality rather than one faction imposing their will on the rest of the country.

Does anyone have a comprehensive list of journalists embedded with all units? I'm interested to know who's not been heard from yet (or lately).
"I invented embedded journalism."

Leaving for a bit. I will check in later on this morning.

Tony saying that we need a better way of dialogue than what has happened in the last few months where people become entrenched in their positions and become caricatures of themselves (slam to Chiraq).
To: TomGuy
Tony saying that abandoning the Trans-Atlantic relationship (from European POV) is madness.

I hate to say this but she does look like one of the dead soldiers in that video. There's obviously a woman soldier in it and now that I think about it, it does look like Jessica Lynch. As much as I don't want to, I can go back and look now that I know what this woman looks like.

Despite Brokaw's
The Greatest Generation, the current crop of media "journalists" seem to have Vietnam as their only historical perspective: protests = good; government/armed forces = bad.
This war to topple this century's Hitler is 6 days old. WWII took years.

Whew! Tony presser over. I don't agree with everything he said, but he is fascinating to listen to. His delivery is admirable.

It would be a great del of fun to watch some of our politicians participate in things like that. Seeing Little Dick Gephardt and Tommy "I'm Deeply Saddened" Daschle have to stand up in front of Congress and take questions would be great entertainment!

A big thanks for all your links.

Here's a frivolous observation: Sky news reporter in N. Kuwait Emma Hurd--how does she manage to look so stylish in the desert? The wind's whipping her hair around but she's looking nonplussed.
To: Wyatt's Torch
Definitely. It would even be better if some of us were asking the questions.
So we've got a sandstorm going on around Baghdad.

Sorry to ask this question but is this a "compassionate conservative" war?
