Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running over the weekend and Monday, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...
TOPICS: Breaking News; Foreign Affairs; War on Terror

Why is Shep giving weather/sandstorm reports saying that the troops are in the middle of a sandstorm 90 miles south of baghdad? Hellooooooo.

The networks all seem to be using the same street views via three or four stationary cameras in Baghdad. Does anyone have an idea where in the city these cameras are located? The cameras show rather placid street scenes, with car and foot traffic typical of any large city. Yet the voice-overs occasionally indicate some terrific action nearby. Earlier FNC said all reporters in Baghdad were restricted to the Rashid Hotel. I'd guess they are mounted there.

There used to be a glut of free image hosts. Now, I don't know of any. Do you have a web host you pay for, maybe your ISP provides some space?

Peter Arnett was reporting from the Ministry of Information a few days ago. Have no idea where he is now.

Remember, though, we have IR goggles that can see straight through that crap. They don't.

N&N: thanks for keeping these running - we need to coordinate better tomorrow ;-) !! Amen to that!.
BTW call me nully, all my friends do...
To: Newkid
Great, CNBC has the great American patriot Gore Vidal creating linkage between Osama, Preident Bush, and oil.
To: Tree of Liberty
At least not that we know of yet. Our Russian friends have been quite handy when it comes to supplying Iraq, it seems.

"That was entertaining.
Any ideas on how to best avoid double stitched threads????"
Good Morning!!
you beat me by exactly one minute this morning!! I think it was MEG33 who informed me. Wehn I tried to post to yours to get the Admin Guy to lock mine - yours had been locked (DUH).
Let's try this for tomorrow . . . I get up at 11:45 PM EST (5:45 local) to start the day - I post to you (or you to me) shortly before 12:00 and we coordinate the opening - or - wait until about 12:15 - 12:30 and open if not already opened.
I'd rather coordinate, less chance of confusion.
BTW, thanks a lot for keeping these alive over the weekend - my disgust with the local reporting here and my family commitments kept me from posting - I did follow the events here though . . .

My comcast ISP gives me 25 MB free...but they have yet to explain how to use it and what my URL is

You want stress, spend 60 seconds watching Gore Vidal on CNBC right now:)
They are asking him what the fair market value of oil is. Geesh.
