A Croatian court has sentenced former army general Mirko Norac and two other defendants to lengthy prison terms in connection with the killings of 50 ethnic Serb civilians in 1991.
The court, based in the town of Rijeka, sentenced Norac to 12 years in prison for his role in the so-called "Gospic killings." The prime suspect, Tihomir Oreskovic, received 15 years, while a third defendant was jailed for 10 years. The court acquitted a fourth suspect.
Prosecutors had charged the four with rounding up and killing the Serb civilians in the town of Gospic during Croatia's war for independence in October 1991. The trial had drawn protests from Croatian nationalists, who regard Norac as a hero.
I don't know the statistics, but the census numbers don't show any dent in numbers of ethnic Croats in Croatia. However, ethnic Serb population in Croatia has shown a BIG drop. Hundreds of thousands gone - ethnically cleansed or killed.
Oh, I think it's hard to find the dirtiest hands in the Balkans. Last I checked, there was a distinct shortage of Serbs in the Krajina and in Kosovo.
No, foreign powers have used non-Serb separatist forces to breakup Yugoslavia and kill off Serbs. The media has lied and exaggerated reports of alleged Serb massacres while keeping silent on what these others were doing to Serbs from the very beginning. Only now, 11 1/2 years later, and after the Serb population in towns such as Gospic has been exterminated do we hear what the Serbs were facing in a small unhyped internet report (sheeple will not notice). The media at the time mainly dismissed Serbs' valid concerns as fearmongering by Serb leaders bringing up memories of WWII. But what was happening was real terror and murder.
Which one is it? What's the Serb population in Republika Srpska and Serbia proper look like relative to 1990?
Oh, gosh...I bet I will wait geological epochs for a straight answer on that topic.
So are you saying that it was just for the Croat soldiers to kill 50 Serb civilians in 1991. That was the beginning of the war. Why did they go after civilians instead of Serb soldiers? A recent report about the trial said that the defendants' excuse of killing the civilians, was because, ONE of their friends, a Croat SOLDIER, died in BATTLE.
No, I'm not. Kindly read both my comment AND the comment I was replying to. If that is too much work for you, that is YOUR problem, not mine.
What are you babbling about? The Serbs are the only side in the Balkans which acknowledges they aren't angels.
12 years for murdering 50 civilians is pathetic.
Not according to their apologists here on FR. Why, a Serb never hurt a single hair on the head of a non-Serb. That was all the work of Croats and Muslims against their own people. It was all faked by the VWWCAATS.
And I like your tagline,too.
But,the problem here is not "lamentation of a woman" but an extreme brainwashing and absence of will to understand reasons and causes of some events. No one here is saying that Serbs are the saints, far from it!But,I must say that you`re both ignorant/uninformed about Yugo affairs, and your attitude is typical of an "enemie" of one party,in this case, the Serbs.
Nothing wrong with that, for a Marine, fighting agains them, because, they were chosen to be "the enemy of the day"." The problem that we have here is that Gen. Norac had his orders to get in kill them quickly, and stay away from the cameras.Advice given by the Americans.Unfortunately, nobody had informed Canadians,so that particular massacre was discovered! Many others were sweapt under the carpet, under then strict orders from your former Commander -in Chief! And,faithfully followed by media corps.
Talking about paybacks? What paybacks, dear Marine?Did the history of the world beggun in 91?Why did the Serbs in Krajina affraid to stay alone in New Liberated Croatia? For funn?Or ,maybe, because people in power in that Croatia were avid readers of Supercooldudes web site!Carre to see it?I hope that Joan can provide the link.Something like www.ustasha.com. Go there, and read.
The point here is that Mirko Norac is a typical "patriot and war hero",applieble to any country!Let me draw the paralel for you:Mirko Norac(Croat) and Zoran Lukovich-Legia(Serb).Both of them former members of Foreign Legion. Both of them came back to their respective countries to fight for a "homeland".Both of them done some things unbecoming of an officer and a gentlaman. Both of them thought that it is ok to sloughter civilians or their fellow citizens and Prime Ministers!Because"they fought for the cause"!Both of them wrote public letters to their Governments accusing them of betrayal of the true patriots! But,they are nothing but a blood thirsty dogs of war and outright criminals in any book. And,I do hope that both of them will get what they deserve.
And,no need to send you "geological epochs" as an answer, you don`t deserve it or would understand.Attitude"with us or against us" doesn`t invite discussion.
Telling the truth(contrary to the official Devine Truth" is not appeasement or apologisam,Poohbah, just a truthJust like a truth about Germans and Belgian Babies in WWII,or incubators in Quwait and Iraqis on 91.The problem is,mate, you kill opther people in order to sustain official lie.Sad.
And,I can see that our resident Ustasha has raised his ugly head again!Dupe, killed any Serbs in Toronto, latelly?
You talk about fascism? How nice. You grew up in that ideology and that kind of invironment,so,obviously, you`re an expert.
Bravo Sierra.
Free Republic Serb Apologist Catechism Article 1: "Everything bad in FRY was the product of the subhuman Croats, Bosniak Muslims, and Albanian Kosovars."
Talking about paybacks? What paybacks, dear Marine?Did the history of the world beggun in 91?
Free Republic Serb Apologist Catechism Article 2: "Any wrong done to an ethnic Serb, no matter how trivial, no matter how long ago, is justification for exterminating Croatian untermensch living today who had nothing to do with it, even though the Serbs didn't really hurt a hair on any Croat's head, it was all faked for the cameras."
Or something like that.
