My wife just returned from Wal-Mart. She went down to spend some support bucks on care package items. She said the clerk looked at her understandingly and mentioned that "items like these had been selling like hotcakes over the weekend and today..."

You won't see this in the polls anywhere, but the evidence is there.

If it hasn't been done (a list of care package items), some of the items on her list included

soap toothpaste washcloths mouthwash fingernail clippers aspirin fruit cups (canned) "lunch bucket" type canned foods (ravioli, spaghetti etc) crackers (vending machine types) lotion cup-a-soups shampoo razors sewing kits toilet paper pens paper envelopes

Thanx for the list! I have a few of my brothers' friends addresses that at over there and was unsure what to send. My brother is in fact leaving for boot camp on May 16th himself.

* Get some computer printer magnetic paper. Let the kids use paint
markers to draw a picture on it so the parent can easily hang it on the
metal rack that they sleep in.
* Let the kids do their very own care package. Let them put in whatever
they want.
*Use a casting kit to create a miniature plaster "sculpture" of a
new baby's foot or hand for a new daddy.

My wife associates with a group of wives on another board that are working on establishing their own "adopt a soldier" type thing.

An actual soldier's name is required under a particular unit. They are going through these links to send care packages and postcards

If you all can send me care package addresses, lists of supplies etc., I would be happy to make the thread..we can post the link on all threads related to the war. I can copy and paste many that have been posted already...I just printed them out a day or two ago, but didn't save them to harddrive.

Not to be a party pooper, but...The official DoD website has a press release, dated 3/22, which states "The general public is urged not to send unsolicited mail, care packages, or donations...unless to a family member, loved one, or personal friend." Guess they're overwhelmed. Hate to see well meant intentions go to waste.

Then I will happily assume that you and/or your family have already sent a generous shipment of 100 percent American-made goods to our heroes, as I and others have. The real "irony" in this case would be to find out that neither you nor your family sent anything at all, preferring instead only to make cheap brownie points with isolationists at the expense of those who have posted to this thread. But that didn't happen, did it?
