"Elected for a five-year term that began in January 1997, and re-elected for a second five-year term that began in January 2002.

Sigh..."

We need to be careful what we wish for. As long as we're a part of the UN (hopefully not much longer), I'm ok with Kofi. Actually, I'm mortally terrified that he'll step down before we can withdraw, and Slick Willie will take his place. Once the Dims get their man in the position of unelected president of planet Earth, we'll NEVER be able to extricate ourselves.

On the other hand I pretty sure that "W" might rather enjoy that proposition. Don't forget (I know you haven't) that we have a man of CHARACTER in the White House now!

As I understand the UN Charter, no citizen of a Security Council permanent member can be Secretary General of the UN.

It is possible that Clinton has bought citizenship from another nation.

Here's a scarier thought : if we leave the UN, the US will no longer be a permanent member with veto power...thus ENSURING Slick Willy's ascension to Emperor of Earth via the UN.
