Proud to be an American

Tonight I find myself in a Honolulu hotel across the street from the beach of Waikiki. Once a month a radio station and other local businesses schedule a food & movie spectacular on the beach. There is lots of food, a couple of rock bands and a huge movie screen where they play a double feature. It's quite a nice event and anyone planning a trip to Hawaii should arrange their schedule so as not to miss it.

I walked over to get something to eat a few hours ago and listened to one of the bands for awhile before returning to my room. A few moments ago I heard the familiar strains of "God bless America", so I walked out on the balcony as they were playing a video clip with the sound track and lots of patriotic American scenes. EVERYONE I could see was standing and after it was over, there was loud applause.

Every once in a while, we realize that everyone else out there is not like the looney tunes left we see on tv every day.
