I haven't seen them backpeddle so far- to do so they would have had to backpeddle within the last hour or so since they so recently came out positive on the story.

The confusion may be because Saturday they said they hadn't heard of it but Sunday they said it was confirmed, probably because by then they had communications from the men on the scene. Some people got their dates switched and thought the Saturday comments were made on Sunday.

My goodness, the same posting on two threads.

How about: There has been another potential siting of another potential chemical weapons plant.

Do you feel better now???

Doubtful. You can't have a second chemical weapons factory siting until you confirm the first. As is, the Pentagon is backpedeling on the first story.

The headline states "chemical plant", not "chemical weapons factory". There's little doubt that the first is a chemical plant, it's just a question of whether it makes chemical weapons.

I haven't seen anything on their website about it, but in the interviews being done at the bottom of the last hour on Fox, Bret Baier (their Pentagon guy) was saying that the Pentagon sources were sort of backing off and not sounding so certain.

now what happens when the Iraqis decide to use these chemical weapons?

Given our underestimation of their conventional troop strength, we may have no other option except to go nuclear.

This is beginning to get uncomfortable.

I think even Hollywood is beginning to sense the seriousness- that is probably why they booed Michael Moore.

I like the Palestinians who are characterizing the plant as a "pesticide storage facility." Guarded by 30-some Iraqi troops, 2 generals, and an electric fence. They must have some MEAN mosquitos over there!

"I suppose the left will say this is fabricated."

You bet, it's all part of the VRWC. The latest screed I have been seeing at DU is that these are all chemical weapons that was supplied by the US.

Someone else posted that confirming this may make the Iraqi's more likely to fire their weapons of mass destruction. Essentially, they'd no longer have the need to hide them.

Also, mark my words, the left will not budge an inch even if we prove this, or that he has Nukes. Just like Clinton and the dress. The excuses will just get loonier and loonier. They are opposed to this because it is a conservative govt, it's the US, and THAT is the reason for the opposition. End of story.

Yeah, and we all know that they have serious highway icing problems there in Iraq. In fact, I don't know how our troops are getting around so easy, what with all that highway icing going on.

Could be a repeat of something from early yesterday on Fox before they had checked. They recycle things so often it's hard to keep track.

I don't know if there is a link, but they have been 'backpedaling' for about an hour on Fox. They even used the word 'backpedaling'. Bret Baier was reporting it from the Pentagon until midnight, and now the new guy that replaced him is reporting it too(sorry, I can't remember his name).

"Do you feel better now???"

I will feel better when the Pentagon comes out and flatly confirms that any one of these are chemical weapons facilities. Until then, I refuse to make an ass of myself trying to stick this story in the face of the French or Blix or the UN or the DemoRATs. I have had enough bad PR news for one day.

FOX news said about 45 minutes ago that the Pentagon seems less certain about the first site being a chemical weapons site than they were earlier in the day.

LOL! You know the Sierra Club believes trees are more important than drivers. They oppose using salt for de-icing for environmental reasons.

BTW, did you say you will have a booth at the festival?

That's how I am reading the reports and news we are getting. I am glad someone else sees it that way.
