Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
To all who helped this get started, thank you!
Special thanks to An.American.Expatriate for staring the daily threads, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

Red Cross Just announced in 5 days of bombing in Bagland only 1 civilian dead and 33 small in juries.......Eat that you protest scumAnd may I add, that in the few stories I've read of "human shields" who encountered civilian Iraqis and learned that they want us there, one thing was clear: The innocent Iraqis trust us to not harm them and know our target is the bad guys.
Obviously carpet bombing would get the job done, but the fact that we don't is not PC, it is merciful.

I stopped listening to Rush MONTHS ago. I got tired of waiting for news while having to listen to him give his opinions.
Heck, WE all have opinions just as worthwhile as his.

General Franks said they were moving in other units to deal with those towns in the rear after our team has rolled past them. I'm assuming the enemy units are IN the towns among the population...or they're dug in to fixed positions. We have a lot of eyeballs on them if they try to persue our guys.

Thats okay, I hate CNN too,,,can't forget Peter Arnett and his darn Baby Milk Factory...say why aren't the reporters asking the Iraqis if Sadaam is alive and why he doesn't give a live speech? What are they afraid off, Iraq is a peaceful country according to some of the media...

Newsweak Editor on Beeb displaying his total lack of understanding of military strategy. According to him, the war is at a dicey point. Can't say whether the war is going our way. Saying that we don't want to go to Baghdad. Per him, our whole strategy hinged on taking out Saddamn the first night and mass surrender the moment our boots were in Iraq.
To: Mo1
Apparently Rush hasn't read modern military theory. We don't have to turn out the lights anymore in the intial stages of a campaign.

You're very welcome.
Rush needs to get with the program. Trust CENTCOM and the admin. for war news. All else is vanity, imho...which can be fun, but to quote Dwight Eisenhower, Pessimism never won any battles.
No nattering nabobs of negativity during wartime. FoxNews news.

It's really easy to drive right past the "enemy" when they're in a Toyota pickup with an AK47 targeting an abrams.
The reality is, once they're identified, artillery will be called in to do cleanup...I have little concerns these "pockets" will collapse.

Trust CENTCOM and the admin. for war news. Then what would he have to talk about?
To: Howlin
Not everyone has a computer. Rush has some good points most of the time. I picked him up on the radio while driving and find I agree with him in the VAST MAJORITY of cases.

The millions of fliers our guys distributed told the truth - staying in your homes is the safest place.
To: Mo1
Dunno about it all being PC.
The BBC World Service just said British Heavy artillery fireing into Basra, that is I think 155 mm mobile guns.
Also water and electricity has been cut for 3 days in Basra.
Seems we ain't all nice after all......:)
To: Mo1
There is a time and a place to do what Rush wants; that's when we turn east on Iran.

Fox: Pentagon briefing tentatively scheduled for 3:30 p.m. EST.

I understand that. The problem I have is with the people who are not capable of listening to a varied source of people are drawing their OWN conclusions and opinions, but have to parrot every word Rush says as if it came down off the mountain on tablets.
