Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
To all who helped this get started, thank you!
Special thanks to An.American.Expatriate for staring the daily threads, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

Bet our guys will find more pockets of stiffs than "pockets of stiff resistance".*Grin*

Egads! Rush being negative and saying we're being too PC and the result will prolong the war and result in more casualties.
His complaints include leaving the electricity on in Baghdad and reluctance to hit civilian targets.
At this point I listen to report on what he's saying as I disagree with the angle he is providing.

I do not want the fanatics to melt into the population, only to resurface as a faction that needs to be compromised with. Excellent point, bears repeating.

This week's talking points on the war. 1) Quagmire 2) No WMD's 3) No Chemical weapon factory 4) Sadaam's alive 5) Supply lines stretched way too thin. (Think about that. We are at the same time stalled, "bogged-down", under constant threat of "irregular troops" ambush. And we have gone TOO FAST, GONE TOO FAR, and are stretched out so thinly that we cannot supply. Which is it? By the way, the infantry and marines move fast to condition the environment for heavy iron (Abrams, etc.) so whatever you think of the front lines, much bigger power is steadly rolling toward the action. The press cannot really think Iraq is getting some kind of momentum. If anything, the most desperate are showing themselves.)

on NPR they are describing the Iraqi's in civil clothes as "partisans". That hurts. They should be described more like the "gestapo" divisions rather than the ordinary german soldiers in WWII. Some of these evil b*&ards know they are doomed and are the "dead-enders" that know they cannot face their own people in a post Saddam Iraq.

a report on MSNBC says that some bridge or bridges (I didn't hear exactly) that we previous had are back in Iraqi control.

I just heard Brokaw mentioning the latest Saddam tape. I quote....."The Iraqi leader appears much more relaxed..."It is too much to expect Brokaw to refer to Saddam Hussein as the Iraqi Dictator, evidently.
What a sickening display the media have been providing.
Thank you for this latest, which grants the tyrant a title he should not be granted.

These 'pockets of stiff resistance' are Saddam's 'goon squad' and will either be killed by us, killed by the regular freedom loving citizens or melt into the weeds. These people are hated by the population because they were Saddam's 'enforcers'.
