***Operation Iraqi Freedom - Situation Room - Day 5 - LIVE THREAD***
Everywhere! | 23 Mar 2003 | An.American.Expatriate

Posted on 03/23/2003 8:56:32 PM PST by null and void

Good Morning.

This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.

It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.

Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:

To all who helped this get started, thank you!

Special thanks to An.American.Expatriate for staring the daily threads, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

Kofi Annan made a statement a bit earlier that the mandate for inspections continues...and when the hostilities cease, he expects the Inspectors to go back in and continue their work.

Someone needs to tell Koffee their services are no longer need

Last night, CSPAN (CSPIN?) ran the CBC "National" news. There was a report from the Jordan border asking where were all the refugees. The only speculation was that they want to stay and fight. No one ever mentioned that they may want to hang around for liberation.

I read your threads on that CBC stuff; you're a better person than I am for being able to do that, and I think you for your reports on the liars!

Well, you knew it was coming.

Just remember, we are NOT hearing 80 percent of what is going on.

Aw........so GREED is the motivator!

He isn't satisfied with the interest income they're skimming off the Food for Oil accounts (held in French banks)? It is reported those $$$'s dwarf the USA dues and support.

And I wouldn't be suprised if the funds weren't further sequestered or reinsured in the Caymans.

Layers of graft and corruption....with the French, of course, getting their fat fingers on a percentage for "brokering" the funds.

Reuters, 3/24/2003 11:08:24 AM

Polish commandos have seen their first action of the Iraq war, with more than 50 troops joining the five-day-old campaign to oust Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, the Defence Ministry said on Monday.

Those favoring war have direct interest or involvement [such as, they are Iraqi in exile, have relatives in Iraq, etc.].

Well, I am glad at least that the reverend had the guts to tell the truth about what he learned in Iraq.

No, I haven't seen any refugees, in fact I have found it very strange that people haven't fled Baghdad. I am not certain what is going on in the north but given the alliance we seem to have made with them it would seem odd that they would flee.

Frankly, I find those so worried about these things to be disingenous unless they can demonstrate the same concern for these people while under the rule of the sadistic tyrant. Woodward tells a story about Bush and Afghanistan when the President wanted the first action to be food drops. (This showing that he didn't understand the need to make the airspace safe first.) I think both Bush and Blair are compelled by the humanitarian needs in Iraq, after all, they are the ones leading the effort to displace Saddam.

Time for me to post this link again. If any of you think we are in a quagmire, are losing the war, things are not going as planned, etc., then you have been subjected to the media spin of the Axis Sally networks (CNN, ABC, etc.), please go to the following link and read what's really going on. Thank you.

The inspectors are welcome to inspect and verify OUR inspections. In the meantime, their job is to get the aid to the people. The UN was told to leave until we had everything down south secured so they could run a supply convoy.

The people are not starving and their potable water source has not been damaged. Iraqi soldiers will no doubt commit atrocities and looting upon their own people.

They know something about living under homicidal dictators and utter oppression. In fact, they have not know much else.
