Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
To all who helped this get started, thank you!
Special thanks to An.American.Expatriate for staring the daily threads, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

Sun hits the chicken ship
By MARTIN WALLACE and ROSS HINDLEY
COWARDLY French sailors are enjoying a holiday on the Thames while our brave boys and girls risk their lives to topple Saddam.
Crew of the coastal patrol vessel FS Flamant are unashamedly flying a Tricolour while moored in central London.
So The Sun steamed into action yesterday by blitzing them with white feathers the cowards symbol.
We hired a 38ft yacht for our daring assault on the 150ft ship, which is moored next to Tower Bridge.
First, we hoisted up the Red Ensign flag as we left St Katharines dock.
Then we circled the ship and shouted to the crew: We have le feather blanc for you grands poulets.
We sounded our horn and then moved into position.
As the rattled French seamen looked on in amazement, we bombarded them with the feathers which showered their deck.
Sailors ran for a hose and sounded the ships booming horn to warn us off.
A senior officer wagged his finger and shouted No, no.
Then the wet blankets rang the police and asked them to deal with us.
One amused officer told us: Weve had a complaint about you from the French warship. Take this as a friendly warning.
Theyre very edgy about all this.

Could it be that Anan is participating in a propagana campaign agains the Iraqi people, in which they are being led to believe nothing is going to change?

I can hear the rumbling of the wind in the microphone.
But nothing on the live video cam indicates any ordinance...
...at the moment.

Oil for food - yes, please see what's what with that program. I too have been wanting to know who's getting what and of course, who's getting rich.

Ok, you would think that they would regroup and try to salvage something after the beat down they took from us, instead they just keep putting more nails in their coffin. It was so funny, even the reporters there seemed a bit perplexed with his statements. Best to open the UN buildings to the homeless and let them re-decorate it, at least someone will get some use out of it.

good :D --- sorry about all the typos, not enough sleep/one handed typing with a toddler in my lap.

Exactly! I'm having visions of Al Gore clinging to the Oval Office drapes and dimpled chads all over again. IT'S OVER, Annan, MOVE ON.
Makes me even more eager for the people of Iraq to have an economy again.

I'll imagine the "friendly warning" went something like this:
"You chaps might actually sink that Frog ship, so no more than 10 pounds of feathers, please."
Lots of rumbling, and the evening call to prayer, in Baghdad.

White House has credible evidence that Russian COMPANIES have provided GPS and night vision capabilities to Iraq. Bush has spoken directly to Putin about this. Per Wendell Goler on Fox.

Hey BulletBob, did they get that Colorado oil well fire put out yet? www.thedenverchannel.com
Driver Sought Following Spectacular Fire
Vehicle Seen Leaving Area Of Explosion, Fire
EATON, Colo. -- A fire along a natural gas pipeline shot flames hundreds of feet into the air and touched off fires in two nearby houses before being brought under control Sunday night.
The cause wasn't known but authorities were looking for the driver of a sports utility vehicle seen leaving the area right before an explosion.
"All we know is that somehow the 24-inch underground pipeline was compromised to the point where it started to leak," said Weld County sheriff's spokeswoman Margie Martinez.
The houses were badly damaged but probably can be repaired, said Wayne Griffin, assistant chief for the Eaton Fire Protection District. A half-dozen houses in the rural area 4 miles west of Eaton were evacuated because of the fire along the Colorado Interstate Gas pipeline.
No injuries were reported.
The gas through that section of the pipeline was shut off, said Wayne Griffin, assistant chief for the Eaton Fire Protection District. Firefighters were still mopping up some smaller fires nearby late Sunday as the remaining gas was allowed to burn off. As a result, investigators have not been able to examine what might have happened to the pipeline.
The pipeline does not deliver gas directly to homes, said Norma Dunn, a spokeswoman for parent company El Paso Corp. of Houston. The gas from the pipeline is delivered to companies that in turn distribute it to businesses and residences.
At its peak the fire could be seen in the northern Denver suburbs, about 50 miles away.

Something interesting from National Review Online's
The Corner:
"You may be interested to know that the US seems to remain very popular here in Kabul. The Afghans say that the country was suffering greatly from the Taliban disease but that the US cured it with an injection of B52!....."
