Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
To all who helped this get started, thank you!
Special thanks to An.American.Expatriate for staring the daily threads, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

Good morning all. Just saw Gen. Franks briefing. Did Saddam address his peeples yet? Was it live or memorex?
To: slimer
Someone looking and sounding like Saddam did an address. It almost certainly wasn't live, though.

lights coming on in Baghdad as the sky darkens...
Please return all trays to their upright positions, ensure all carry-on luggage is stowed under your seats or in the overhead compartments - and we want to thank you again for flying "Iraqi Freedom Airlines"... the weather in Baghdad this evening is expected to be hot and bright, enjoy your stay!

Beeb military analyst now saying this advance is quite rapid. Warfare is about control. THey have been remarkably successful. Don't get bogged down by peripheral issues.
The point is going over the BeebBabe's head.

Thank you and God bless.

Unless he quickly appears in the flesh, (resurrected so to speak), Hussein is becoming marginalized and is more and more irrelevent with each passing hour.

Annan just finished, he said that the inspectors will go back once the events on the ground are finished and that he wants to resume the oil-for-food program. He's been sniffing burning tires, I'm sure of it.
To: steveegg
Cokie Rob...er, Kofi Annan on CNN/PMSNBC now.
Is he a panty waist or what?

WHY does he want to re-impose sanctions e.g. the oil for food program?? Unless of course he's used to skimming the top of the cash cow and doesn't want to lose that.

Isn't the oil for food progam a humanitarian thing because of the embargo? And won't the embargo be lifted once Saddam is gone? So why in the heck would we need the oil for food program?
To: slimer
It seems the Russians used the food for oil program to smuggle in the GPS jammers and the nightvision googles to the Iraqis...
