Director Moore Scolds Bush from Oscar Stage 10 minutes ago
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Politics grabbed center stage at the Academy Awards (news - web sites) on Sunday as the winner for best documentary, director Michael Moore (news), charged President Bush (news - web sites) with waging a "fictitious war."
Wagging his finger from the stage as he was both applauded and booed by the assembled celebrities, Moore said, "We are against this war, Mr. Bush. Shame on you."
Moore won for "Bowling for Columbine," a provocative film on the roots of gun violence in America, whose title refers to the Colorado high school where two students massacred 13 people before killing themselves in 1999.
Moore, who received a standing ovation from the assembled celebrities, invited the other nominees for best documentary film to join him onstage in solidarity against the war against Iraq (news - web sites).
"We like nonfiction and we live in fictitious times. We live in a time where we have fictitious election results, that elect a fictitious president. We live in a time where we have a man sending us to war for fictitious reasons," Moore said.
Oscar host Steve Martin (news) joked after Moore finished speaking that "the Teamsters are helping Mr. Moore into the trunk of his limo."

Yeah, but they booed Mike Mooron's unacception speech. Then Steve Martin said "the teamsters are helping him into the trunk of his limo!" Even Hollywood knows when real heros are dying they need to shut up!

A war casualty! Buh bye Moore.

I'd like to put his Oscar up his anal port. This pompous ass would probably like that though.

Cbs radio reported the whole thing just now, including the boos and Steve Martins comments! Good for you CBS.

"We are against this war, Mr. Bush. Shame on you."
Mr. Moore, please define "we".
75% of Americans are for this action.
I am part of that 75%
How dare you say we.
Maybe you realize that you are actually a person and a half in size.

I have yet to hear any of these anti-war celebs place any of the 'shame' or blame on Saddam.
Who does Mr. Moore think he is speaking for?
Who is this 'WE' he speaks of?
This is what I take such offense to - - the very nerve of these celeb types who seem to think they speak for 'us'

Let's not forget that Hollyweird gave him that "award". They are just as guilty, aiding and abetting an America hating Sodomite.

The article doesn't do it justice. My son is watching the oscars in the next room and I can hear it. Apparently the standing ovation he got when he won the aware was quickly turned around to not moderate but MASSIVE LOUD booing and it continued long enough that the orchestra actually started playing quite loudly to drown him out and make him stop speaking. I heard it and ran in to see it, clapping and cheering. LOL
The guy who just won for "The Pianst" (I have no idea who he is), in contrast, said thank yous for his award and ran out of time (the music gently started playing) and he literally begged for more time....they gave it to him. The music quieted and he went on to say that no matter if you pray to God or to Allah he hopes all will pray for a quick and peaceful resolution to the war. He also mentioned that he had a good friend from Queens serving in the military who is presently in Kuwait (naming the soldier) and said something like God bless the troops. This guy who begged for the extra time actually got a standing ovation in the end.

We live in "fictitious times"? What is that supposed to mean? I know I live in the real world; however, it is obvious that this clown doesn't.

Yeh, what you mean "We", fat man!
This guy should know fiction, because his Bowling for Columbine certainly is a work of fiction!
What a space-wasting POS he is!

What a fat, ignorant bastard he is. Good men and women are dying and he stops to wag a finger at this country's administration during a pathetic, self-congratulatory sideshow (formerly known as the Oscars).
