:"Agree - hope this is going live to the troops...
Just what the troops need, to see Michael Moore winning an Oscar (a certainty) for an anti-2nd Amendment propaganda piece, then taking the stage and calling the Commander-in-Chief and our troops terrorists to wild applause (like he did last night).
I see your point... It's just that blocking ANY form of what makes up America upsets me... even the bad parts.
Steve Martin seemed OK -- like back in the old days when he was funny ...

I have seen much of it so far, and there are an awful lot of heretics there who are not wearing the "peace lapel pin" or whatever they are calling it. Gere had it on; Ed harris too. But Travolta did not, nor a bunch of other men.

I thought everyone agreed not to watch those leftist idiotsI really won't watch. Not one second of it. I am scrupulously avoiding that channel.

I'm taping it so I can see the tribute to Peter O'Toole - a favorite of mine. But I plan to fast-forward through the rest of it.

John Travolta came out in support of the President and our troops several weeks ago -- I know shocked me!

I just flipped over--is this a scheduled "update", or an unscheduled ABC "special report"?

Like so many other overhyped awards, the people giving out the Oscar awards are self-appointed and self-anointed. The real awards for Best Picture, Actor, etc. are called 'The Georgies,' and are in the form of paychecks . . .

No not everyone in Hollywood is anti-Bush. You are right! Wow I wasn't even thinking that deep! There's only such negativity, grief and destruction the human brain can take. Yes I do feel guilty sitting at home while Americans and British are dying over there. They are in my prayers, but that doesn't mean enjoying recreation should stop.

Did they not give out the peace lapel pins to the "nobodies"---I mean the support people, animation, etc. who are not big stars? Maybe it's like a sort of fraternity/soroity pin thing, where only the cool kids get one. (Notice I have not mentioned the women because their evening gowns don't really have places for lapel pins.)

Can guarantee that the vast majority of troops wouldn't want us sitting here 24/7 getting upset at only watching cable news to see what is going on in the Gulf. It doesn't mean that we care any less about the troops because we want to watch the Oscars. I actually resent being made to feel guilty because I want to watch the Oscars.

I don't really watch the Oscars. My point was that we should not stop our daily lives and what we like to do just because there's a war.

I bet in downtime the troops which they could watch some tv, play cards, or something. Weren't they broadcasting baseball games, etc. during the Gulf War? Sheesh. I'm not going to feel guilty either. Like I said, our brains needs a break from reality. That's why people like movies.
