I didn't watch the oscar's ... I have a life. However, having read Free Republic I learned that Michael Moore was booed. It seems everyone is uplifted because Michael was booed by "his own kind". I hate to break the news but these elitist hollwood types have no character ... and this shouldn't be a BIG SURPRISE! Lots of Americans have shared anger that the hollywood jerk view's are not appreciated. The hollywood creeps are mostly afraid of losing the almighty dollar ... that's the main reason they booed Michael Moore. But Pleeeeeese ... don't think for a moment they disagreed with him ... because they don't.

What's amazing is that GONY was completely shut out! Not that I care -- I can't stand scorsace or any of his work and this was another self-serving gratuitous flick.

But I doubt Chicago was worth 6.

I think GONY took a lot of chances to be historically accurate... or at least look it, as far as I could tell.

I wonder if anyone in Hollywood even remembers how Astaire and Kelly filmed their musicals...long shots, full body. Chicago did the opposite, filming a musical as if it were an MTV rock video-- close-ups, quick cuts. Designed (imho) to jazz up the presentation when the talent comes up short. Does Gere really tap dance? From the movie, I could not honestly tell.

IMHO Daniel Day-Lewis deserved the best actor award. I suppose the problem was that GONY either got a lot of adverse advance publicity or was too violent, or both.

The point is that world-wide television saw a show that was at least respectful, and then the only person who spoke against the war was booed. Don't discount the effect this can have on Europe, the Iraquis, and the war.

I am sorry I don't see this point. I believe world-wide we are seen as weak, corrupt, infidels. As the world watches our TV programs and movies we are measured as a nation as being similar. In reality NOTHING could be further from the truth. These people in Hollywood are NOT America, thank God!
Hollywood hates America and they least of all are able to see the reality that is us. This is a truth I do not discount.
