Be careful at counter-protests...keeping a good name for ourselves...

I just wanted to warn everyone, even though I know it has already been done, to be careful about your actions at counter-protests and the like. We must take care to not be the violent or confrontational ones. We don't want bad media attention--let them continue to get it!

I attended the counter-protest last Thursday night in Boston. From what I saw, the more violent and confrontational ones were the protestors, not us. I have heard, through friends, though, that they are hearing the war protestors talk about the counter-protestors being violent. The main source of this is a good, trusted friend of one of my friends who just happens to be on the other side of the issue. I'm certain that she must have seen another group of counter-protestors, or she happened to only see us when a protestor was being confrontational and succeeding in making us upset. I am trying to find out more information on exactly what was seen and classified as violent.

We must stay calm and take care what we say. We do not want to seem like the "bad guys". That is the place we want to reserve for the hippie protestors. Be careful what you chant; we are there to support our country and our troops, not to push ourselves as war mongers and violent, simple-minded people.

Try to ignore those protestors who are being confrontational with you. We should also try to stay a distance away from the main crowd of people, in order to prevent clashes. I would suggest, if it comes downt to it, and there is a protestor who is being overly pushy with the group and won't let up, it would be a good idea to let one of the officers present know what is happening, just in case some violence ends up breaking out.

Just be careful about your safety and the safety of others in your group, as well as the meaning behind what you say or chant in response to their chants.

I'd say our counter-protest was succesful, simply because we got media attention, we had passers-by giving us positive comments and even joining us, and we succeeded in making the protestors nervous enough for them to yell at us over the loudspeaker, bring even yet more attention to us.

Let's show America and our boys (and girls) over there fighting that the majority of us are calm-minded, intelligent people, and that the protestors really are in the minority!

What did they yell?
(I like the way Protestwarriors are handling it)

Do what you want at your rally friend. I, for one don't give a good G-- Damn what they think of "us". This is a frickin war and our men and women are being killed or captured. This isn't a fun excercise in democracy, this is life and death. If there was an obnoxious "peace protestor" in front of me right now, I'd crack their head open. I'm sorry, but that's just the way it is...I'm really pissed off if you can't tell.

We had a bad incident yesterday afternoon, when a pro-war demonstrator went overboard, demanding that anti-war protestors stay on their own corner. She screamed at and shoved a peacenik, and was in turn attacked by two lesbian cholos who were just walking by on their way to the bus stop. Cops broke it up after 2-3 long minutes. It was all on video (I think by a peacenik) but apparently no arrests were made.

It sure didn't make us look good. Anyone that volitile needs to stay home and find another venue for their opinions. They will just score an own-goal :(

I must add a caveat. I believe that Veterans, and veterans only, sholud identify themselves as such with a hat or something, and STRONGLY REBUKE THE PEACENIKS.

Profanity or sophomoric namecalling is unnecessary, but strong rebuking is, for the morale of our troops.

Our rally in Reno yesterday was purposefully at a whole other location but people basically marched over several blocks tho where the peaceniks were and it all ended up being there. Peaceniks are now trying to sue police for not stopping Pro-USA supporters from being in 'their space'.

That is why I could not go to one. I would do just what should not be done. And unlike the unwashed protestors, I have a job and a family to support and cannot afford the jail time that no doubt I would incur if I got within 10 feet of those maggots.

My head knows that you're right - my heart finds it hard to resist mixing it up with those clowns. You become radicalized after a while. That being said, I tried really hard and succeeded yesterday in avoiding the "anti-war" loons, not returning to challenge them after our highly successful rally was over with. So, even in my tired middle age, I'm still growing.

Also... could we please not automatically believe every atrocity story that's reported? Remember the Iraqis in Gulf War I, tipping premature Kuwaiti babies out of their incubators? Never happened.

We're going to win and have the Iraqis at our mercy; there'll be time enough for us to be terrible in our wrath later on.

You make some very good points ---but it would be difficult to just stand there if one of the ones from the peace side just comes over and starts attacking. I'd be torn between "turning the other cheek" to letting them try and finish what they started.

they are hearing the war protestors talk about the counter-protestors being violent.

The pro-aborts have been using this tactic for years. Engage the counter-protestors, push, shove, do whatever you have to do to engage them. When the opposition is finally focred to defend themselves, cry foul and scream bloody murder into the nearest television camera. They have pamphlets and brouchures detailing the many ways to accomplish this.

Of course the anti-war (anti-Bush) left is working from the same playbook. They're the same people.

What exactly is the point of you going out and standing on the corner. If you aren't pissed off and "volatile" right now, something is WRONG with YOU!

Maybe the best thing would be to have a lot of camcorders ---and when the peace people start doing their thing, catch them on film. A picture can be worth a thousand words and if they start assaulting an innocent person ---rather than punch them back, film them.
