The curious thing is that it's the anti-war, anti-U.S. unwashed who have several protests and events planned for the area near the Kodak Theater, where the Academy Awards show will be held. Surely the peace-loving protesters won't disrupt the peace-loving actors' self-congratulatory lovefest! (By the way, Bill Clinton is scheduled to appear at one of the post-Oscars parties in H'wood. Where's a scud missile when you want one?)

First, let's get one thing straight. Iraq's declaration shows there are no SCUDs. Don't you remember? They must have all been destroyed with no thought to documenting the fact, I guess.

Good for you, ladies. I suspect that the awards will be particularly vile this year anyway.

The Guild's live Oscar thread usually is a chance to laugh at ridiculous outfits and poke fun at goofy acceptance speeches. This year, we just don't feel like laughing, and don't consider Hollywood's hatred for our president and our troops "goofy." I hope Sarandon, Scheider, Clooney, et al., have shot themselves in the foot with their hatefulness and ignorance. I wish I could say I'm boycotting movies, but that would require me to have patronized them in the first place, which isn't the case!

I am the same way. I'm just not a movie nut ... I see a movie about once every 5 or 6 years. Last movie I saw was "Like Water for Chocolate". However, I have fallen off the wagon by buying all three seasons of the Sopranos on DVD.
