Due to today's developments in Iraq, and the possible execution of our soldiers, The Guild will NOT be hosting an Oscar thread this year.

Good for you, ladies. I suspect that the awards will be particularly vile this year anyway.

The Guild's live Oscar thread usually is a chance to laugh at ridiculous outfits and poke fun at goofy acceptance speeches. This year, we just don't feel like laughing, and don't consider Hollywood's hatred for our president and our troops "goofy." I hope Sarandon, Scheider, Clooney, et al., have shot themselves in the foot with their hatefulness and ignorance. I wish I could say I'm boycotting movies, but that would require me to have patronized them in the first place, which isn't the case!
