You're so brilliant. Thanks for the penetrating military analysis. I would suggest that you have zero knowledge of what operations were planned or when. Further, this occurred after 2 or 3 days of your beloved "shock and awe." I'm glad you figured out George Bush is to blame. Get back to me when your crystal ball is ready to tell us something else - in advance.

These thugs fight by a different set of rules, and unless we are willing to get down and dirty (including taking out civilians), we are going to take more casualties The Iraqi Saddamites do fight by different, barbaric, rules.
But you are incorrect that our fighting forces should get down in the mud with them. The Coalition Forces have and will continue to fight this war with Honor and probably with an increased determination and resolve.
To suggest that our troops match the Republican Guard and Saddam's henchmen and fanatics atrocity for atrocity is ludicrous.

Yeah - It was very brave of the iraquis to execute a bunch of Motor T mechanics who got lost at night in the desert.

As a soldier myself, I understand that there are going to be American loses. Very true, and we have expected to go through this without losing a man
My concern is that it is the strategy of Iraq for its military to blend into the civilian population and continue to ambush our troops

Apparently they were mechanics who got lost. This happened in the 1st Gulf war, too.
Traffic control is always a problem.

A frighting percentage of the posts on this topic are justifying the executions. Those people are pure evilThat's very sad.

Anybody left in Baghdad at this point doesn't want to be liberated. Take out the queen and destroy the next, nuke it.
To: rumrunner
Is there any need for Baghdad to be left standing????

Even the SS didn't execute American POW's except at Malmedy The SS also executed Jewish POWs at the Berga POW camp. My grandfather served as a judge at the war crimes tribunal for these executions.

"Bush should have stuck to the origional, and foolproof, plan to shock and awe them into surrender and this would have been over in 48 hours - just like the first time. But no, he played politics with the whole thing wanting to come away as the great humanitarian who took Iraq without firing a shot or losing a life on either side and now it has cost us big time."
And you need to get a grip, face the realities of war, or return to the comics books you have evidently been educated on.

No!
And I bet the US media is *horrified* at the prospect of the US people seeing this and demanding nuclear retribution!

thats the town where we took the bridge to cross the river. but the problem is we have had this strategy to bypass collections of iraqi troops in the field and just push forward to baghdad. when you leave these pockets behind, instead of destroying them when you encounter them, there is a risk. you will see this strategy change now, these pockets that we left behind, hoping they would surrender, will be bombed mercilessly. the planes are likely in the air right now.

Very true. If my memory serves me correctly, GW I involved significant numbers of sorties flown against Iraqi Army units. They keep talking about shock and awe, but are we doing more than just blowing up command and control buildings at this point? Where's the carpet bombing of the Republican Guard and regular Iraqi Army units designed to KILL them, not talk them into surrendering?
To: SolutionsOnly
These Iraqis aren't very smart are they. The US fights well enough as is, but piss them off and we're talking about an entirely different ball game. You have hit the nail on the head. So far, the US has not been fighting out of anger, but more business like, as usual.
Because of this incident, I think we will see more Iraqi casualties, and less Iraqi POW's than there would have been had this not taken place. We've been playing nice.......so far.
To: cynicom
I can only pray to God these were the human sheilds dressed in the US uniforms that Saddam was purchasing. Otherwise.....The anti-americans marching in our streets have enabled this SOB. AS far as I'm concerned they are now enemy combatants.
