This action proves, to me, that Hussein is dead or incapacitated. He would never do something so visceral that would turn world opinion completely against Iraq. Excellent point. He is (was) a ruthless dictator but you don't stay in power for as long as he has and be stupid enough to execute POW's and then broadcast it to the world.

This was likely a freelancer's action. I don't think Saddam is in any shape to communicate with his troops--both physically and technologically.

Agreed and I believe sinkspur is on the mark. Showing POW's in that state and there being a video that shows US military being executed is, to me, an indication that Saddam is not in control of significant parts of the military, if at all. He is, unfortunately, a master of playing the press. Don't forget how he treated the families caught in 1991 as "his guests".
