Iraqis Execute American PrisonersEvidently they've never read about the results returned by the US for the SS doing this very thing during the Battle of the Bulge.

This would be big news if they knew it. ????? Are you sure ?????
Yes, I am watching MTP. Jim Mik as I type is repeating: Americans at al Nasareya (I know I'm apelling that wrong).
Maintenance personnel there to do re-construction took a wrong turn. Evidently met Iraqi soldiers and were led away, taken to a room, shot execution style.
Mik just repeated "mechanized unit" our Americans were with.
Al-Jazeera, who evidently has never seen a tape they will not air, played the tape displaying the dead bodies, purportedly of these prisoners.

Is it possible that the Iraqis dressed up some prisoners from their own jails, in American uniforms, and killed them (or had they lay down in such a way as to look like they had been killed)? I realize this is wishful thinking, but I hold out hope anyway. Sure it's possible, if the stupid sumbitches want to turn world opinion completely against them.

These "talks" with the Iraqis need to STOP; they will never ever accomplish anything, just like with the Turks.
Full speed ahead.

I think we need to knock out the lights, t.v. and radio stations in Iraq. We need to life miserable.

"Executed" nothing. This is like saying armed robbers "executed" hostages. The word is "murdered".
Time to announce what happens to war criminals (see the sig).

raq has US military uniforms and a ready supply of 'human shields'. Be wary of disinformation...
Unfortunately, we are in fact missing troops and they are presumed to be these very prisoners.

No quarter to these SS nazi bastards! These pigs are war criminals! No mercy to 'people' who would do such a thing to unarmed POW's!

"As awful as he is none of the senior leadership would execute US PWs and then show the bodies on television to rub our faces in it."
Yes, they would.
"They are evil, crazy and stupid, but not suicidal."
YES, they are suicidal.
"We need to get in Baghdad now with Airborne and clean this lot out before they do worse, because if they did this, they'll do anything."
I'm sorry but there is this naive train of thought that we'll just drop 10,000 troops into a city of 5,000,000, march to the bunker and arrest the leadership. We have to destroy almost 80,000 Republican Guard troops. The point has not been made sufficiently that the Iraqis can be POW's and survive and flourish in the new Iraq, at this point, and if this story is true, I'll be honest. If it were me, I'd empty every clip and still have one round in my back up pistol for my head if I thought I were going to be captured, tortured and executed (Sorry, that's the old jarhead mentatlity in me coming out). The strategy thus far from the Iraqis has been brilliant on the ground. Not as effective they would like yet, but keep watching. We can no longer give quarter or mercy. It's time to unleash the full capacity of our air force on every building where their troops are hiding. Public and world opinion be damned.

I just saw the tail end of that--2 soldiers, faces cut up, looking horrified and saying their names. It made me sick.
To: G-dzilla
I saw that and it was heartbreaking. I hope it isn't true. The two soldiers looked so frightened but at least they are alive and we can get them back very soon.

NBC Russert went to Jim Miklazsewski (sp) who said a tape was played on Al Jazeera TV showing the soldiers being executed.....no other news source has carried this detail. Well there are 10 soldiers missing, however Saddam's forces fight as dirty as possible. They could have American uniforms, and those men they shot could of been conscripts caught trying to surrender. Until we know for sure, lets think positively.

Our boys were shot in the head, execution style.
Apparently, a female soldier was among those captured, possibly executed.
EVEN THE F**KING NAZIS DIDN'T DO THIS, except at the Battle of the Bulge.
WE ARE DEALING WITH HITLERITE-WANNABE'S. KILL THEM TO A MAN.

Where did you see this. :(

There was never any expectation of the Baathists following the Geneva Convention. People who would throw their own citizens into a plastic shredder are not going to stick at killing prisoners. We can expect more of these incidents, in all likelihood. This is war, and we must endure these losses.
However, we should adhere to the the rules of civilized warfare, whatever the Iraqis do. First of all, it is impractical to rebrief the troops and change the rules of engagement overnight. They have better things to do than read a new circular. We must concentrate on ending this war as rapidly as possible. If Baghdad falls within a few days, we can punish the higher ups rather than dick around with some Iraqi private. The worst thing we could do is waste time and effort on reprisals of no military value. That would endanger more troops. The best thing we can do for MIAs is win the war so we can find them and set them free.
