I'm tired of Rumsfield saying Iraq is violating the Geneva Convention. These animals know nothing about protocol.

Who is more important? Our soldiers or their civilians?

The United States does not intentionally kill civilians. But, we do not have to be so careful with their soldiers, captured or otherwise.

Every Ba'athist who has a gun and fights should be killed, TO A MAN.

Civilians should be protected.

Problem is the Ba'athists are literally fighting next to civilians.

In Baghadad, they are literally busing women and children to Republican Guard sites.

If so just nuke them all.

I do not want or say nuke 'em. We have been very careful to minimize collateral damage. I have no problem with that, until it puts our men and women in danger. THAT is when we should use the necessary force to protect our soldiers.

Fox is refusing to show the video. Good for them. I tried to watch CNN but felt like puking after a few minutes of their not-so-subtle anti-war slant.

I don't want to kill them all, as that would defeat the purpose of the mission. It's going to be difficult to separate the oppressed Iraqis who are true victims of the Hussein regime and the Ba'athist scum hiding among them. Our troops and leaders need God's help right now! We need to pray for discernment.

It will change things if Iraq behaves really badly. They have to know that or they are beyond dense.

This is evidence to me that Hussein is dead or certainly not in charge.

He would never allow something like this. It could turn world opinion completely against Iraq.

Maybe one of his hothead sons is extracting revenge for his father's death.

Arab TV shows scenes of alleged Americans held by Iraq
The Associated Press

DOHA, Qatar (AP) - The Arab satellite station Al-Jazeera aired footage Sunday of interviews with what the station identified as captured American prisoners, and also showed bodies in uniform in an Iraqi morgue that it said were Americans.

The station said the prisoners were captured around Nasiriyah.

In the interviews, two of the prisoners identified their unit only as the 507th Maintenance.

Al-Jazeera was broadcasting footage from Iraqi television.

Four bodies could be seen lying on the floor of the room.

At least five prisoners, speaking American-accented English, were interviewed. Two were bandaged.

One of the men, sitting up, was being interviewed by an unseen person holding a microphone labeled "Iraqi TV." The soldier spoke in English and at one point said: "I'm sorry. I don't understand you."

The U.S. Central Command had no comment on the footage.

The television crew interviewed several of the troops, including one woman. The narrator provided an Arabic translation, but it was possible to hear some of the comments in English.

"I come to shoot only if I am shot at," said one of the Americans, who said he was from Kansas, when asked why he was fighting Iraqis. "They don't bother me, I don't bother them."

Another prisoner, who said he was from El Paso, Texas, said only that "I follow orders."

A voice off camera asked: "How many officers" were in his unit.

"I don't know sir," the soldier replied.

One of the prisoners was shown lying on his back on a bed, with apparent wounds to both arms and hands and marks on his forehead. He had a bandage on one hand and what appeared to be dried blood on his shirt, arms and face.

On CBS's "Face the Nation," Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld said that if those are indeed coalition soldiers being shown on the Al-Jazeera TV footage, "those pictures are a violation of the Geneva Convention."

There was no confirmation that the prisoners were U.S. troops, or if they were, what unit they were attached to.

The U.S. Army's 507th Maintenance Company is based in Fort Bliss, Texas. The unit is part of the Army's 11th Air Defense Artillery Brigade, which includes Patriot missile batteries.

Al Jazeera has been controlled by the U.S. since its inception.

If this is being shown on TV, I assume we want it shown, either for I.D. purposes or to give weight to more massive bombing of Baghdad -- okay by me.

Level it.

I'm tired of Rumsfield saying Iraq is violating the Geneva Convention. These animals know nothing about protocol.

He may be saying this to try to beat some sense into the lefties, to try and get across the message that the U.S. are, believe it or not, the good guys, and that we play by the rules. It'll fall on deaf ears, for the most part, but maybe some people will wake up. It wouldn't surprise me if many lefties don't even know what the hell the Geneva Convention is, much less that Iraq is grossly disregarding it.

Now that it's been brought up, I assume Iraq is NOT a signing party of the Geneva Accords. Does that mean that they are not bound by it? In other words, is their violation of the accords simply bad P.R., or is it 'prosecutable'?

Isn't this the crowd we can't use mace or pepper spray on because they are considered chemical weapons?

If we don't do well in this war it is our own fault,we are too humanitarian in these difficult times.

War is hell!!

The Ba'athists are not following the Geneva Convention.

They are the SS. They should be destroyed to a man.

Oh, didn't you know? The Geneva Convention only applies to the US. Everyone else can do what they want.
