The soldier's face was pixilated. That's been done on all the footage I've seen.

Hi Gene, just saw the same thing on Fox News...wierd. They had no problem showing his face last night. Maybe he used his one call to hire Johnny Cochran.

I read somewhere that POWs are not supposed to be photographed and publicly displayed. Maybe something to do with the Geneva Convention. I've also seen other photos on the internet were also blurred out.

Has it definitely been established that he's Muslim? I heard on Fox News that his motive was revenge from being disciplined and told he would stay in camp and not be allowed to go into Bagdad. I'm curious if he is Muslim and want the military to hurry and release his %*^# name.

I saw the pixilated version this morning, but last night, they were showing this guy--unpixilated.
I guess they had to sanitize the story so no one gets "offended".

I think the pixilation stems from a lawsuit against the show "COPS" a few years back. A guy whose face was shown and later found not guilty sued FOX and won for invasion of privacy. So now they pixilate faces of non-convicted people as a matter of course (unless the person was a public figure--ex, OJ Simpson--beforehand).
But I could be wrong.

This perp is no POW. POW's wear uniforms of foreign combatants. He should be executed immediately. I don't understand why they are treating him with kid gloves. He is a terrorist.

NBC just showed the video without distorting the face. He is African- American. Rumsfeld is on the show and very wisely saying very little.

I am sure his family is very glad that he is not being show or identified,

I did not see it, but I know the Brit papers were showing photo's of POW's doing the same thing. Part of the Geneva Convention rules I think.

Now that he's a prisoner and being accused.. his identity is now being protected? Perhaps that is the answer.. not sure.

What is Taqiyah? He who disbelieves in Allah after his belief in Him, (is the liar) except he who is compelled while his heart remains steadfast with the faith (has nothing worry). But who opens his breast for infidelity; on these is wrath of Allah, and for them is a great torment.
--Quran, Surah 16 (an-Nahl), verse 100
This verse of the Quran refers to the incident when 'Ammar bin Yasir (May Allah be pleased with both) had to utter some words against Islam to save himself from the Quraishite infidels.
The Qur'an clearly allows hiding one 's true faith when one is in danger of one's life. This rule is called taqiyah.
Question 1: What is the meaning of "Taqiyah"?
Answer: Its literal meaning is to safeguard; to defend; to fear; piety (because it saves one from the displeasure of Allah).
Question 2: What is its significance in Islamic terminology?
Answer: In Islamic terminology it means "to save life, honour. or property (either one's own or of other believers) by hiding one's belief or religion".
I imagine the same rule would apply for a Muslim who hides his jihad sympathies.
